Finale Ligure, on the Italian Riviera, is a town nestled between the Mediterranean Sea and the limestone slopes of the Rock of Caprazoppa. To most, it is a location famed for white beaches and incredible seafood. But for riders, it’s known for another reason—some of the very best mountain biking in the world. It was here that the new Specialized Enduro Team assembled for the very first time. It’s a team of young, fast riders, ready to travel the world in search of not just victory on the Enduro World Series, but community and culture. A team in search of stories to tell.
RIDERS FAST AS...
Along with staff and team manager, Mathieu Durant, three team riders—Kevin Miquel, Sofia Wiedenroth, and Cecce Camoin—spent a week in March in Finale Ligure getting acquainted with their new Enduros and Levos. Yup, Levos. This team will contest the Enduro World Series E-MTN races too, as well as select e-bike XC races on their Levos. The team dialed in their new bikes with the mechanics, went through Retül fits, and spent time building the rapport that will see them through a long season together. Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, team rider Charles Murray had to stay home in New Zealand, but in just a few short weeks, they’ll be together to kick off their season at Val di Fassa, in Italy, on June 23rd.
Just 19-years old, Francescu—or Cecce to his friends—already has five years racing enduro under his belt. 2021 marks his fourth year riding for Specialized, and his first on the factory team.
Craziest thing that’s happened to you on a bike? A lot, but I think it’s Whistler when I rode with Fabio Wibmer and his friends. They were just sending backflips everywhere!
This is Kevin’s first year with Specialized. At 29, this fast Frenchman will be sharing his wealth of knowledge with his younger teammates.
Favorite place to ride your bike? Whistler is one of the dream spots. The atmosphere is really special and cool. Everything there is for the MTB.
At just 26, Sofia has a long history on the MTB with success in both XCO racing and Enduro racing. This is her first year with Specialized.
Describe your ultimate bike? Now that I have the S-Works Enduro in my favorite color, I actually have my dream bike in the garage!
This dual-threat Kiwi has been racing Enduro for three years, while also making a name for himself in freestyle skiing. This is his first year with Specialized.
Favorite race on the calendar? 3 Peaks Enduro, NZ. My first ever enduro race and I go back every year. Love the city and the culture.
