Budget Hard tail Punching above it's weight.

I got a Rockhopper Comp after 20 years from MTB my last bike was a trek backin the 90's. I got the Rockhopper to get back in to mountain biking so did not want to spend lots of cash, I knew real mtb's start above £500. I spent £630 on the comp. It's a great entry level bike, The frame is a stand out point that could be great for upgrades, its handles the trails with ease the groupset budget but works well i dont think you can get a real MTB that performs like the Rockhopper comp for so little money, if i had to pick a negative and there is only one it would be the XCM Forks they work ok for an entry level bike but ifeel the Rockhopper can do much more than the fork allows, An upgrade to Rockshox 30 gold or a budget air fork would transform the bike, but for £630 you cant expect everything Thank you Specialized Robert south wales

This bike is epic i jumped everything on A Line

it was the mega beast I hit every jump on a line and even if I cased the bike held up very well. I would definitely recommend this to all mountain bikers with not much money to spend and if you are homeless it is very strong ss. it can hold all of your belonging.

    awesome value for money

I purchased my RockHopper Comp after many years away from cycling, I had my first MTB back in 89. I wanted a real hardtail but i was on a budget. The comp at £630 was perfect. The Frame is awesome quality and light, the Rockhopper handles trails with ease. The frame is so good it would be a great start for a future upgrade on fork and drivetrain. 3 months on the comp keeps on delivering if you can not afford the high end bikes but want a serious trail bike you cant go wrong with the Rockhopper comp

Not very good at all, big disappointment

Bought this bike as a replacement for my 2013 Rockhopper. I absolutely loved my 2013 version, it was a superb bike that served me well. This new version is really poor though, I actually took it back to shop for the 5-6 week check up and told them I thought there was something wrong with it - due to the clanging noises and flimsy feel of the bike. Next time round I'm looking for a new bike I will definitely be looking at the alternatives....Cube, Giant, GT, etc, as it seems that Specialized have let their standards slip. Why have a gear shift mechanism with 3 numbers, when there are only 2 gears? The front forks clang like crazy just dropping off a small kerb!!!
