YEARS RIDING
Since I was a little kid and learned to ride a bike.
PRIMARY RIDE STYLE
Mountain, Road, Gravel. Over the course of an outdoor season, I probably do all 3 equally... but if I was only able to have one bike, it would definitely be a mountain bike.
FAVORITE RIDE PLACE/ROUTE
I’ve been so lucky to ride & race in lots of fantastic places. I ride often in and around Victoria, BC (MTB & RD) where my brother lives. It’s a beautiful place to ride. I spent 3 years living and riding in Whistler/Pemberton/Squamish, BC area which has epic trails. The riding in Quebec, Alberta and Yukon is awesome too. I loved the road riding in Spain (Mallorca & Girona) and Italy. Lots of great places in USA (Colorado, Utah, Alaska, Vermont, West Virginia, Virginia, Washington, North & South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma). SO MANY places still on my bucket list. And, of course, I tend to take for granted where I ride the most…Collingwood, ON has pretty amazing road, mountain and gravel riding all in one area.
FAVORITE POST-RIDE FOOD/DRINK
Après = Reese Peanut Butter Cups... and maybe a Strongbow (which leads to nap-rès).
DOES YOUR BIKE HAVE A NAME?
I never really did until I got my S-Works Ruby. Depending on the light, it sometimes looks blue and sometimes purple. So obviously I named it Burple.
CLIMB VS. DESCEND?
I can't believe anyone would answer anything other than DESCEND?
WHERE WOULD YOU LOVE TO RIDE?
I’ve read a bunch of lists of the top places to cycle in the world. A few I’ve already been lucky enough to experience but would repeat for sure. Others that would be a dream come true = Switzerland, Austria, Norway, France, Scotland, California
FULL LYCRA, Y/N?
Road/Gravel: yes. MTB: no (although on a really hot day, lycra is often cooler than baggies).
DREAM RIDE
I'd like to do the BC Bike Race in perfect weather.
I LOVE RIDING WITH
I am surrounded by lots of passionate cyclists. Part of what I like about cycling is riding with people who love biking as much as I do. We have great road cycling and mountain biking clubs in Collingwood so I often ride with other club members. But I have a core group of really great friends I ride with the most often. We like to push each other and have lots of good times doing it. I also coach people new to cycling and riding with them and helping them get better at the sport is fun.
QUOTE/MOTTO
Let's do this!
WHY DO YOU RIDE?
It makes me happy & healthy... those two things are high priority.
SKILL YOU WISH YOU COULD MASTER BUT HAVEN’T (YET)
When I was discussing with a friend what would be the "main" cycling skill I haven't mastered yet, I was told with a smirk, "you have the luxury of having maky skills you haven't mastered yet".
