From the outset of the Torch 3.0 Road shoe design process, our goal was to create a performance offering as feature-packed as any top-end shoe. The challenge, however, was pulling this off at a palatable price.

In order to achieve this, we utilized three strategically placed materials on the uppers that are welded together—TPU and mesh in the front and synthetic leather in the rear. This makes for a more comfortable and supportive front of the shoe. A stiff rear and heel cup, meanwhile, lock down your heel and keep all of your watts going into the pedals as efficiently as possible. This refined upper is combined with our legendary FACT carbon fiber sole to further ensure an efficient power transfer. Finally, we topped the Torch 3.0 off with two Boa® S2-SV Snap dials for zonal closure, and a precise fit that leads to all-day comfort.

  • Body Geometry sole construction and footbeds are ergonomically designed and scientifically tested to boost power, increase efficiency, and reduce chance of injury by optimizing hip, knee, and foot alignment.
  • FACT™ carbon composite sole and torsion box construction is directionally rigid for outstanding power transfer: Stiffness Index 8.5.
  • Dual Boa® S2-SV Snap Fit System for on-the-fly micro-adjustment, backed by the Boa Guarantee.
  • Mesh, TPU, and synthetic layer upper are placed in specific zones for comfort and lock-down, and are thermobonded for a superior fit.
  • Standard Fit for support and all-day comfort.
  • Three-bolt cleat pattern fits all major road pedals.
  • Approximate weight: 248g (1/2 pair, Size 42)

Very narrow

I have 4 pairs of Speciaized shoes, all size 44. They all fit great. I bought these and tried them out only to have them rub my forefoot raw. Tried shoe stretchers/wideners with no luck. They are very narrow compared to all my other cycling shoes. For $250, I expected them to be the same size in comparison to all my previous Specialized shoes. I will be returning these.

Excellent Shoe - Don't skip the Body Geometry Insert

Purchased a pair of Torch 3.0 from the LBS. They were a great buy and had my size (EU 48). I did not buy the Body Geometry Inserts at the time of purchase. First ride with the new shoes has some discomfort. Second ride was about 50 miles with the last 20 miles in foot agony. Inserted a pair of non-athletic inserts and did a ride of about 40 miles and overall had minimal discomfort. Back to the LBS and they fitted me for the Body Geometry inserts (Blue). Did a ride of 50+ with some good climbs and had zero discomfort. I felt the foot-insert-shoe-cleat-pedal were very aligned with good power transistion between the shoe and pedals. Take-away here is a very good cycling shoe when you dont skimp at the time of purchase! The inserts and shoes are a matched system.

Best cycle shoe ever

I've been doing cycling for 37 years and thus, have worn many brands. This is the first shoe that I got out of the box and thought wow, that is a work or art. Then I put them on and they fitted beautifully to my foot. Then I went out for a ride with them, wow, every watt of power is not wasted from my legs threw to the pedal. They are easy to adjust as well whilst riding. I've been using them for 4 months now and they are still great. One of the best cycle investments I've made.

Too hard to put on

I didn't get further than my couch with these shoes. They were really hard to put on, even though they felt reasonably comfortable once they were on my feet. The uppers are stiff and the BOA closures do not allow the sides of the shoe around the tongue to open very wide, so you have to wrestle with the shoes just to get you foot in. I read about this problem in online reviews, but I dismissed it; it's a real problem. I returned the shoes. Life is too short to have to plan extra minutes to put your shoes on. Another problem is that the BOA mechanism on these shoes does not have a quick release for getting your foot out; you have to release the tension little by little, which takes forever. (I bought a pair of Northwave shoes instead: they're easy to get on, comfortable, and have BOA-like closures that release entirely when you want too take them off.)

Great shoes

I bought my first pair 4 years ago. I put thousands of miles on those shoes including a couple of Ironman races and many 100+ mile rides. These shoes fit and breathe well and are very comfortable to me; I don't notice them on the bike making me feel like my feet are just part of the bike. They provide a nice strong platform for transmitting power to the pedals. The Boa straps provide easy in-ride micro adjustments as my feet shrinks and expands over time depending on level of effort. I just bought another pair on sale. Highly recommend.

I have the Torch 2.0 that fits me just fine at size 10.5 (44), I'm size 10 so I ordered the same size for Torch 3.0 and I can't even put my feet inside the shoe. Loosened the BOA all the way still can't put my feet inside. Avoid this shoe.

Don't waste your money

After just over a year in these shoes with only moderate riding, the front screw broke through the bottom into my foot! As others note, the Boas don't work very well either. I can see why they're now 50% less expensive than they were last year, and they're still not worth it! Going back to my 20+ year-old Sidis that have never failed me.

Narrow Toe Box, Stiff Upper, Weird Boa Closures

I read a reviews that claimed the toe box on the Torch 3.0 is roomier, but that’s simply not the case. These are narrow shoes with a tight toe box and a very stiff upper, and the tongue is also very thick and stiff. As many others have mentioned the Specialized Boas are weird, with no pop-up release. This means the Boa dials need to be completely loosened and the wire loops removed in order get the shoes on or off, not a very convenient. Specialized does offer a wider standard fit in the top of the line S-Works Torch, as well as an even wider “wide” option, hopefully it will offer a wider option across the complete road shoe line in future.

Between a 9-10 Women's - Tried on the Torch 2.0 but the 3.0 fits WAY Different

I am between a 9-10 Women's - Tried on the Torch 2.0 but the 3.0 fitsWAY Different. Main story - in the Touch 2.0 the 9 (40?) was way to small but the 9.5 (41) felt big so I ordered the 40.5 in the in the Torch 3.0 and my foot was COMPLETELY cramped. Thankfully I have a 41 on order but now I am scare that I will need a 41.5 ... :|

Completely Disappointed.

I have been wearing Specialized shoes for about 11 years. I've loved every pair I've had. They last a good while and have been so comfortable. My last shoe was the Torch 2.0. I loved it, but the past couple years my feet have started to swell during my rides, so I wanted a shoe with the dual Boa, so I bought the 3.0. The sole is much stiffer and I can "feel the road" more. The upper is very stiff as well and digs into my ankle. I've had them for a few months and they have gotten a little better under the ankle bone, but now I'm having a pressure point on the outside of my foot. They also run hotter than my 2.0 even though they have more venting including a vent on the bottom of the sole. Also, the BOA dials are very hard to turn, they don't have the pop-up release either, making getting out of them a cumbersome chore. AVOID THESE LIKE THE PLAGUE. THEY ARE NOT GOOD SHOES.

Good shoe, previous models are more comfortable.

I enjoy the "Body Geometry" fit in Specialized shoes. This is my second pair of road shoes from them. This version is less comfortable for me than the previous version. The top of the heel cup is uncomfortable when getting the shoe on and off. I also have to be careful not to have the boa too tight, or the shoe starts to dig into my foot just below my ankle.

Boa has no quick release

The shoe fits great but no quick release on the Boa is a deal breaker. Without quick release getting in and out is a PITA. I sent the shoes back a d hope Specialized make the shoe with quick release for next year, 2024. I’d be interested to here from the decision maker why they think quick release is optional when boas have always had quick release. Seems like a step backward. Plus does anyone really need micro adjust to loosen? All you have to do is pop a quick release boa open and it loosens then snap the boa closed. Problem solved. No need to overthink it.

This style of BOA dial is awful

The shoe is difficult to get on and off because of the dials. They are difficult to turn and once you tighten them, they do not release by popping out, you have to turn the dial in the opposite direction, which is extremely difficult. They do not turn smoothly in either direction. I understand you can fine tune the fit by adjusting in either direction, but it is not worth it, if you have to struggle to get the dials to turn. Very disappointed.

Great shoe but BOA's are a nightmare

The Torch 3.0 is a very nice shoe. It's comfortable and true to size. The one thing that is awful though is the specially developed BOA dials for these shoes. They are so difficult to turn. The regular BOA's are much easier to operate. If I knew what I know now about these BOA's I probably would have bought a different shoe. If they would make this shoe with the regular BOA's it would be a perfect shoe.

Fantastic with boa replaced

Really impressed with these once the boa is replaced with the S2-S boa. The boa that is on these should never have been included. Maybe on the Torch 1.0, but not these. The boa replacement makes these a 5 star standout. Light, great fit, excellent power transfer, dual boas make for easy adjustments. Only other comment might be that until I replaced the boa's getting in and out was extremely hard. With the S2-S it is much easier once they are let out completely. At this price (currently on sale), and with new boas these are as good at it gets at this price point.

Everything but the BOA dials

I love everything about the shoe. Fit, finish, stiffness and comfort BUT why the cheap BOA dials. They are impossible to adjust when you are riding because of how short the dials are. They are often jammed when you try to release them. I almost cannot get them off after a ride. Is there an upgrade that I can put on to fix the BOA dials? I would love these shoes more.

Worst BOA ever

Purchased these last summer as a "upgrade" road cycling shoe. BOA's never worked well, switched them to my indoor trainers for the winter. This morning, my foot was trapped as the BOA wouldn't release, had to use a pair of pliers to turn which cause entire boa to pop out of molded bracket in side of shoe. Absolutely cheapest BOA construction ever, no quick release, turn to tighten, turn to release....Check them before buying, if stiff, don't get.

BOA Dials

There are a lot of things I like about these shoes so far—the “wild” color scheme is fly, the sole is stiff and they’re comfortable. But the BOA dials are just unacceptable—to the point where they ruin the shoes. They don’t release like the higher-tier ones, they stick and don’t turn smoothly, and manually loosening them every time is a huge pain (literally—they’re sharp and hurt your fingers). I got these on sale (~$175) and that’s the only reason these get 3 stars instead of 2. I would not recommend these until Specialized upgrades the BOA dials. What a shame.

The shoes do fit wide

The shoes do fit wide so corn relief on my baby toe! I ordered these thanks to a review I read about the wide fit. They are gorgeous and light. The only thing I find difficult is the 2 Boa set up. One Boa would be better. Cycling stuff should be minimalist. My 2 Boas are not cooperative. Hopefully with use, they will be easier to use. It is full-on winter here so I haven't tried them outdoor yet but looking forward to it.

size 41 insole dimension

The insole is 266mm long and 84mm wide. it may or may not be the same design as the S-works level, but some online reviews described the S-works are wider than the previous S-works version. So if your foot is wider than 84mm, the sides of your foot will get squeezed to fit inside the shoe. maybe you like it, maybe you don't. I clicked "run small", but I couldn't deselect it, but if I could, I would. It doesn't run small, since there is no mention of how wide the shoe is in the description.

Pretty happy with the Torch

Pretty happy with the Torch 3. I previously had the Specialized Expert model. Same stiffness index of 8.5 but only a single boa closure and Velcro across the toe. They are a little hard to put on. Narrow throat to the shoe. The shoe fits exactly like my last shoe in same size. I do have a narrow foot and these got me well. So I rated it “runs small” because I think a more average foot might have a tight fit in this shoe. I have worn them about a half dozen rides. Power transfer is great. Very comfortable. Good price for the tech in this shoe.

After wearing another brand's slightly

After wearing another brand's slightly too large road shoes for a season (43.5), I decided to go down one euro size to a 43. I normally wear a 10 in street and running shoes. The shoes are snug but not tight with a snug fit in the heel, which I like. I have narrow heels and most of the cycling shoes I've tried are loose in the heels. I've been struggling with hotspots and some numbness on 50 + mile rides in the older shoes but, so far, in the Torch 3.0, my feet have been comfortable. The adjustability of the shoes with the dual Boa closure is great for fine-tuning while in the saddle, dialing in either direction to tighten or loosen - not the usual pull-out to release the Boa closure. I'm going to keep fiddling with arch support and wedges under the forefoot to maximize comfort, but so far these are the best fitting, best-featured shoes for the cost I've found. I average about 100 to 120 miles per week with 3-4 rides and don't compete but like to go fast and train hard.

Best shoe for the price

I have owned my pair of Torch 3.0 for about 2 1/2 years now and are as solid as day 1. The retention seems to be the common dislike among everyone including me, it is a bit of a hassle to get the wire on. The dials aren’t the best either but aside from that the shoe is great, never have had slipping or other problem. I’ve recommended the shoe to several friends. They are a bit on the narrow side compared to a shimano shoe, but the wide option is available which should accommodate wider feet. Great price with a high end look and feel so if you are on a budget or just simply looking for that spare/emergency/training shoe then I suggest these as the go to. I use them as my training and commuting shoe, use to be my only shoe now currently own a pair of RD 7 for the big rides, go check the shoes out. I would have given 4.5 but given the options I chose the 5 star.

There are better options

The BOA dials they used are cheap and really not a good representation of BOA for cycling shoes. For the price, these should've had IP1 BOAs, but instead they opted to use S2-SV which are complete trash. The dial is too thin to get a good grip, and it needs to be clicked in both directions, there's no instant release. The length of the wire on the BOA and design of the shoes are such that you have to remove the wire from the clip in order to get the shoe on and off. It's not realistic to pull these shoes on and tighten them up while standing because of this. This is a pretty major design flaw. About 50% of the time, the tongue will slip outside the upper on one side while putting them on. This is mostly a result of having to take the wire out and have the tongue flop out in order to get the shoe on. Another design flaw.

Not the greatest design.

The shoes fit as comfortable as any comparable Sidi, Giro, or Shimano shoe. However, the design sucks. I have narrow feet with a high arch which, especially in the winter months, is a nightmare trying to get these on over heavy wool socks. The boas don’t release wide enough which has already caused me to partially break the heal cup down. Otherwise, once they are on my foot and clipped in, I don’t know that there’s a better shoe at this price point!

Solid quality

I've only ridden with these once, but out of the box I can feel they are of great quality. The stiffness is great and transfers to the pedals very well. The exterior is nice and cleans relatively good. The arch is interesting and I do feel better foot comfort with it. I originally discounted arches in cycling shoes, but now I'm reconsidering my ignorance. The major reason for my purchase was the dual boa's. They do allow for a more custom fit on the top of the foot compared to single boa or strap systems. With the dual boa & arch support, this Torch is better then my Sidi's.

I ordered a size 46. The shoe runs slightly larger, maybe 1/2 a size which is perfect for me. The shoe is also on the narrow side again which is fine for me as I do have a narrow foot.

Great shoe

I had an earlier version (comp) for many years it was finally time to replace them. The torch 3 fits me good and is very stiff

Specialized Torch 3.0 cycling shoes the best

First pair of Specialized shoes and they are the best so far. Always liked Fizik cycling shoes and this time I changed to the Specialized Torch 3.0 cycling shoes and I feel so much better, my foot feels like it's part of my pedals as I cycle. Can't believe how much difference the Specialized Torch 3.0 shoes are on my ride and especially when I apply power in my riding. Just the best cycling shoe I've had in the last 6 years.

Looks nice fits good, great service

This is my first road shoe, but i do have flat mountain bike shoes from spesh, so I ordered a size 43 since I am 9.5us Rode with it for a week and it was not comfortable. Ordered a size 42.5, it felt great. My feet were at home with that size, got to return the size 43 with no hassle! Love specialized products and service

Very good touring shoe

Bought these at the beginning of last season (2020). I have 4,500 miles (7,200 km) on them, almost evenly split between my road bike and my trainer bike. Bought them b/c I wanted more room in the toe box and did not need the extreme stiffness of the S-Works shoes. Very comfortable, well ventilated & stiff enough for my riding. You will need a toe cover and/or ""booties"" when the weather turns cool. The BOAs are very hard to operate with sweaty hands, as several reviewers have noted. I have found they have gotten better with use but still struggle once and a while. The ones on my old 2013 Specialized Comp shoes were much easier to use. But very pleased with this shoe so far.

Good Value

They work great with my indoor trainer. The less stiff platform feels the same as my s-works shoes. I like the placement of the boa laces and the front strap. It makes adjusting the shoe very easy. Would be too tight for a wide foot.

Stiff and Comfortable on long rides

Unlike others I like the way you can micro adjust the boa's on the ride by just twisting the boa up or down. I have had these a couple of years now and they still look good. Would recommended them

Great shoe but......

Great fitting shoe, stiff sole, toe box works for me, but the boa dials are a pain in the rear end. Hard to grip and turn, and only work correctly off and on. Other than that, great shoe all around. Switched from Sidi after 20 years, they only make one model now in sizes 49 and up. I wear a Sidi 50 and Specialized 49.

This shoe is for a narrow foot.

Unless you have a narrow foot, don't bother. I have size 12.5 wide feet. My last pair of Specialized Comp size 47 fit perfectly. The Torch 3 shoes are made on a different last that is narrow. Disappointing that Specialized has changed their shoe last style. Waiting for the Torch 2 wide shoe to become available. The BOA system is not as easy to use as the old ratchet system. Otherwise the shoes seem nice and look like they would last a long time.

Excellent cycling shoe

Excellent shoe. It fits nicely, runs true to size, and is vented to let out moisture. I will buy this shoe again.

Comfortable shoes

These shoes are high quality and very comfortable! Nice quality. Nice product. The only suggestion would be to improve the BOA system. Tightening is fine but loosening can be a pain as the jobs just don't grab like they should and it makes it more difficult than it should be.

Great quality and value!

This is an excellent show that brings many of the high end features like 2 BOA adjustments and a balance between performance and enough comfort for long rides. I feel the solid transfer and responsiveness when I push down on the pedals. Great shoe for intermediate to advanced riders at a great value!

solid shoe, would recommend

I've had a few pairs of specialized shoes now and these certainly didn't let me down. Really appreciate the design and aesthetics. I liked the idea of a bright color, but for my uses black is where it's at (which it turns out is more of a dark grey). I miss the older style mesh ventilation that my previous shoes had, but it seems like a well ventilated shoe so far on a couple of summer outdoor rides I've done. The boa dials work fine, and are easy enough to grip (although I do prefer the boa pop out dial to loosen system), just be sure not to butter your fingers before putting them on or off.

There a good shoe

I own a pair of Vans with the BOA system and love them.. the BOA system works differently on these shoes. The system tightens nicely but unlike the VANS sneakers which losses when the top of the knob is lifted up, making loosening effortless, these shoes are a bit challenging to take off if you fingers are sweaty after riding. Definitely need to muscle the knob to get these bad boys off. I would recommend but if you can find the old school three Velcro strap system you might be better off..

Great fit!

Great fit, excellent power transfer. Can see results. Only problem is top boa is not long enough. Need extensions. If you have an instep, then you will struggle to get show on. However, once on it's great!

Great and Comfortable

Shoes are excellent!!! Light, comfortable. Only draw back is that lighter colored shoes gets dirty very easily. I have the Acid Lava color and after a short ride, the shoes got dirty. If you have wide feet, choose the wide option. Shoes can be tight. Otherwise, choose a dark color and enjoy the shoes

Fast shoe

The power transfer is unreal. Need a shoe horn to squeeze into them but I once on, fit like a glove. Except for that awful BOA system.

Great shoe, but BAO dials are terrible

I bought a pair of the Torch 3.0 shoes for myself and my wife for Christmas 2019. These were to replace my Specialized Comp shoes with the ratchet strap that I absolutely loved. We both have raced in Ironman and multiple other races. The Torch 3.0 is a great looking shoe and fits great and is very comfortable. The BOA dial is so low profile and the knurling on the dial is so small that you cannot get a grip on it to loosen the dial to take the shoe off. If you have any arthritis in your fingers, or your fingers are wet, you almost need a set of pliers to grip the dial to loosen the lace. It is EXTREMELY frustrating every time you lean over to take your shoes off after a long ride with sweaty or wet fingers. I wish they would have put a different BOA dial on the shoe that you can get a grip on or they still made the ratchet strap model.

Great shoe but new Boa system is a pain

I've had these for about 6 months. I had the previous edition of these shoes and they were awesome. The Torch 3.0 fits well and is comfortable. My biggest complaint is the new Boa dials. They are really difficult to loosen, hard to grip and frustrating. The previous Boa's were much easier to use.

Great shoe for the money!

I had bought a pair of older used S-Works shoes that I wore into the ground and needed a replacement pair. I couldn't pull the trigger to make the financial commitment to buy a new paid of S-Works shoes, so after doing some research, I went with the Torch 3.0's. They have been great (used them fro about a month); stiff shoes, but still comfortable! They feel solidly built, so I'm not expecting durability to be a problem.

Great shoes, minus a star for boa and hotspots

Amazingly secure slippas. Upgraded from Giros with a ratchet and these feel so snug on my heels. I have slightly wider feet so even somewhat thick wool socks are not an option or I'll get numb toes and hotspots. I truly HATE the BOAs on these. You have to manually crank backwards to release the line and the dial is impossible to grip. Maybe if you were a Tru Roadie living in very warm and dry temperatures it would be fine but with cold hands and wet dials, it's the absolute worst.

Outstanding Shoe

These shoes are amazing. After riding/ racing in many other high-end brands of shoes over the years, even past s-works shoes, per usual, I expected some time to get used to these. After first try on, the shoe felt like a slipper, so comfortable, and I have never had that happen before. The padding is perfect, and the stiffness, construction, and features are really high-end, making this an incredible shoe for the price. With a pretty standard size foot, I've always preferred a wider toe box, and these shoes nail that. True to size fit.
