Amazing

At 80 years of age, I love riding for the fun of it and exercise. I have two full knee replacements and until this year (when I purchased the Vado 5.0 SL) I was riding a 55 lb. behemoth. When I stopped pedalling, the thrust emanating from that monster was problematic and getting the 55lb bike going again from stand still position was challenging. I am now in heaven riding this gift to cyclists. I can manage without any assistance on level road conditions and minimal assistance on slight inclines. I love riding again and with the step through bike, getting on and off with two make shift knees are a pleasure. A lighter bike means more control and easier balancing. Kudos to innovations.

WOW! Yes, please!

This is an engineering feat and a riding marvel. I wanted a bike that I could ride when I wanted to go longer than my legs were up for or on days with low energy or rest days. This bike is light for an electric bike, easy to maneuver and responsive, with a lot of power to make the ride easy and fun. The battery is plenty strong, the operation is intuitive and easy, and the riding is fast and fantastic. The great thing is that you still get exercise riding this thing--it's you, only better (faster).

Now, THIS IS SOME RIDE!

If you haven't ridden a high-end bike, its about time. I used to live in NYC, and had quite a few bikes stolen. So, I kept my bike choices to Target and Walmart specials. I've left NYC for Boca Raton, FL. I then up'd my game and bought this Vado SL 5.0. This bike is so well engineered. It is such a smooth ride. The pedal-assist wasn't a feature that I was considering, yet all other bike models (in my size, XL) were sold out for so long. I ended up choosing this model, and have been very happy with everything. The pedal-assist helps me keep going when the winter Florida winds blow right into you. And if you don't know, Florida winds blow at you no matter which direction you're biking! After 2 weeks of almost daily use, I've already put 280 miles on it. All in all, I love my new baby!!!

Wow. I mean really WOW!!

As a 62YO road biker with 4 Aortic Valve surgeries, 2 knee surgeries and a pacemaker, I have been feeling the hills closing in on me in the valley I live in. No more hills, shorters rides, Going from 20mi to 5mi rides and loss of stamina. Enter the Vado 5 SL-EQ. I feel like I am 20 again with the stamina to ride all day. I still work with the SL, but it makes me work. I keep the assist off unless I hit a hill. at ~33-35lbs, the bike is easy enough to peddle on flats, downs and slight inclines. Mission Control range options allows me to give myself just a slight bit of assist (5-10%) on days that I am a bit too tired to ride with no assist, or up to 100% Turbo for those long rides that I find myself knackered on with still 5 miles to go for home. Mostly I ride for the love of it and try to go without pedal assist to get back in shape. After trying many other offerings from major mgfrs, I decided I wanted the componentry of the 5 and the ability to just ride without assist on a light bike. Although I never cared for fenders, with the EQ, I can do long rides on wet roads all winter and not get slopped. I like this bike so much, I am now purchasing one for my wife and also planning to get a Creo for longer rides this summer.

Great Product

Very well done for intended use. Ride quality surprisingly good for alum frame. I can't stand drop bars so this is a good fitness/workout bike for when I can't ride mtb trails. Just don't expect much from the computer provided. Overall well executed.

First Impressions

I am 67 years old, 5'11"", 170 lbs.and in good health. I wanted a bike that would give me some help to ride longer distances (50 to 80 miles) without concerning myself if the day was going to be a little windy or elevation climbs were concentrated at the end of route. I have just received this bike and completed a couple of 45 mile rides with 3500' of elevation gain on hilly rural back roads where pavement ifs often patched & broken. I wanted to share my first impressions to help others considering this bike. First - It is hands down the most comfortable road bike I have ever ridden (seat excluded) not a hint of any types of pains that normally start to creep in at 40 miles on my drop bar bike. It is also the most fun bike as it is nimble yet very stable on fast descents. Gearing is perfect with great range for climbing or ripping along level at 30 mph. E- assist - I was looking for a little help, not something that would ""carry"" me up hills. I estimate 60 mile range in conditions described above.riding mostly in eco with tour only for steep climbs. Still learning about the ebike part, but riding in conditions described. looks like the choices are put in the same effort as non ebike and cut approximately 20% off your normal time, or gear down and reduce your effort to an easy spin on hills but take same amount of time to complete ride. Ill give another report once i have 1000 miles on bike which may be a while since winter is starting to set in here in the northeast.

A Great E-Bike Experience

This is a very fun and versatile riding experience. My other bike is a S-Works Tarmac and I never thought that I would ride anything but road bikes, but the more I read, the more I got interested in E-Bikes. Figured that since I already have a great road bike, I might as well try a hybrid style E-Bike. It is one of the best decisions that I could have made. The Turbo Vado SL is a sweet, fast, sexy machine and I am having a great time riding it for exercise, beach cruising, and any biking experience that I can come across. Well Done Specialized.

Fun and Versatile

Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with an AFIB heart arrhythmia under 40. I needed to go to electric to have more control over my heart rate. My previous bike was an S-Works road bike. I wanted a bike that was a little more versatile and had a more comfortable riding position. This has been the most fun bike that I have ever owned. It's smooth, comfortable, and very quick.
