Turbo Vado 5.0

2021 Turbo Vado 5.0

When we set out to revamp our Turbo line, we knew that we needed to design a bike that best meets your needs. With our lives getting more hectic with each passing day, finding the tiny pockets of time savings can have a huge impact, and the Turbo Vado 5.0 truly embodies this concept. It utilizes our most advanced pedal-assist technologies, a high-quality component spec, and a suspension fork to take the edge out of those pesky potholes. No matter where you're going, you'll get there faster and in style with the Turbo Vado 5.0.

Beginning with the integrated Specialized 1.3 motor, it has a higher max torque, max watts, and better heat management and efficiency than its predecessors. It's the most advanced motor ever found on an urban e-bike. Of course, it still features a silent operating design with our Custom Rx Street Tune that takes the output and makes it the most usable for an urban environment. Think of it this way: The more power you put out, the more power the motor puts out, and this makes accelerations from a standstill both quick and efficient. The belt driven motor is also smooth, silent, and free of annoying vibrations. And the max speed? 28mph.

For the Vado 5.0, we developed a custom 600 Wh battery that seamlessly integrates into the frame, is lockable, and easily removable for simplified charging. In other words, there's plenty of juice to take you to and from work, a trip to the grocery store, or even to that new café on the other side of the city. If you wish to see exactly how far you can go on a charge, have a look at our Turbo Range Calculator for more exact estimates.

The new wired Turbo Connect Display (TCD-w) is the best way to view data on your Turbo. It not only displays important ride metrics (speed, cadence, rider power, distance, battery level, time, etc.), it also allows you to connect the latest version of the Mission Control App for an enhanced Turbo experience. With our free app for iOS and Android phones, you easily customize motor parameters, control your range, record/upload rides, and perform basic system diagnosis.

And to top off all of the innovative features, we chose a high-end spec with Shimano XT/SLX 11-speed components, four-piston hydraulic disc brakes, an SR SunTour fork with 50mm of travel, integrated front/rear lights, and mounts for fenders and racks. It's ready to take on the town in effortless style.

Got me to ride again

I love this bike. I used to ride all the time for transportation, but then moved somewhere where the distance was too far. With the Vado, I am no able to travel by bike again. it makes it possible to get around more quickly than a “normal” bike, and it makes me smile every time. I’m so glad I have it. It rides great. It looks great…I love it!

Power and comfort

I really like this bicycle but it doesn’t come the way I would’ve preferred. Because of the fenders you can’t mount a fatter tire on it and, in my opinion, the tires that come with it are too thin. I had the fenders removed so that I could fit fatter tires on it. In doing so I had to give up the rear light and ability to mount a bag on the back. The bike is fairly comfortable and is quite powerful but if I had to do it over again I would choose a different bike.

It's truly a car replacement

Love it! Fast, fun, wonderful. I use it for my 13.6 mile one-way commute. It's absolutely wonderful...e-bikes have arrived, and hopefully a real beginning of transforming our transportation system. This bad boy is helping make it happen!

Wow fantastic bike, but what a bummer.....

I own a Levo Comp - a fantastic bike. Totally love it, -- both the ""bike"" part and the ""E"" part. Specialized has done a great job with the motors and whole e-bike eco-system. I also ride an urban ebike and it's time for an upgrade and was pretty excited to get a Vado 5.0 with the same motor as the Levo (aluminum instead of magnesium, but basically the same). And so I took my 5'11"" tall self out to ride a Vado 5.0. And dang, it's a nice bike to ride. But the standover height is crazy. If I don't want to have the bike messing with my junk I need to get a medium - the standover height on a large is ridiculously high compared to most large bikes. But a medium has a ridiculously short reach - it's not at all the riding position I want. On a reach basis I'd go for the XL, but then the bike would be messing with my belly-button. Specialized -- what are you doing? This is an urban bike! A low standover matters just as much as on a mountain bike -- and I ride a ""large"" Levo with absolutely no problems. I'll buy this bike in a heartbeat when I can get the reach I want/need! And yes, I might just get a low standover (mixtie) version - but I don't think you make the Vado 5.0 in an XL in the low standover like the other Vados. So, dang. No Vado for me right now.... For anyone looking for a bike with a short reach - fantastic. For those more experienced riders that might want a bit more of a modern mountain bike type riding position -- no way.
