The All-New Turbo Levo

We designed the Turbo Levo Comp to be a proper trail bike, first and foremost. It takes geo, kinematics, and design cues from our newest trail bikes, like the Stumpjumper, and adds industry-leading tech that gives you the power to ride more trails. New motor? Check. New battery? Check. Incredibly lightweight and capable chassis? Check and double-check.

This Turbo Levo takes much of what we learned while designing the latest Stumpjumper. Case in point is the new Sidearm frame design that gives it an exceptional stiffness-to-weight ratio. Now, the bike is stiffer and has a lower-slung frame that's more capable on tough descents, even easier to maneuver in technical terrain, and uses less battery power. We've also lengthened the reach, kept the chainstays nice and short, slacked out the head angle, steepened the seat angle, and maintained a low center of gravity. You'll also find a new Flip Chip that lets you adjust the bottom bracket height and head angle in a matter of minutes. It's dialed.

We also managed to increase battery capacity. The bike now gets more distance out of every full charge via a new Specialized M2-500 battery with 500 Wh. The Smart Control feature, available with our Mission Control App, lets you set the power assist to last for either the duration of your ride or until you reach a point you've defined yourself. Battery status is now always on view, too, with both the new Turbo Connect Unit and the optional handlebar-mounted Turbo Connect Display.

At the motor, we cut weight with a new magnesium-bodied Specialized 2.1 motor that amplifies your input by up to 410% with absolutely no awkward surges in power. Our engineers in Switzerland devoted years to making this a reality by creating custom software that drives the most cutting-edge motor in its class. And for the suspension, we redesigned it to give you even more control where you need it most. The initial travel is supple, but we added more mid-stroke support, so there's no wallowing about or blowing through your 150mm of suspension travel on big hits and drops.

This Turbo is also the smartest and best-connected e-MTB to date. Our Turbo Connect Unit is at the center of the top tube, and it connects the bike, via ANT+ and Bluetooth®, to both the outside world and the Turbo Connect Handlebar Display (available aftermarket). Speaking of which, the latest version of the Mission Control App now has more features and is simpler to use than ever before. It lets you easily custom-tune nearly every aspect of the bike, monitor your power use, control your range, perform basic system diagnoses, record and upload rides—there's even a new Shuttle Mode feature that takes the sting out of long climbs by giving you maximum motor support with less required effort at the pedals.

When it came time to dress the bike, we focused on delivering tons of fun at a tremendous value. This boils down to features like a RockShox Revelation Charger fork and Deluxe RT rear shock, tough 29-inch alloy wheels cased in Butcher 2.6-inch tires, SRAM GX/S700 11-speed shifting, SRAM Guide RE brakes, and an M5 alloy frame.

  • The completely redesigned alloy Levo frame features an M5 alloy front- and rear-end, an asymmetrical design, and our 29 Trail Geometry, so it's just the right amount of both capable and comfortable. Kinematics of the frame have also been perfected, along with rider-tuned stiffness. Cable routing is all internal, including that of the Command Post IR, while the battery is fully integrated in the down tube, while the minimalist motor is mounted in a more secure, lighter way.
  • The custom Specialized 2.1 Rx Trail-tuned motor is more efficient, 15% smaller, and 11% lighter than its predecessor. This successfully places it at the top of e-bike motor technology. It has many other features that no other e-bike can touch, like instant engagement, fantastic heat management, a double freewheel design that disengages the gear box when you hit top speed, and silent, smooth, and consistent output—even at max power.
  • This Turbo’s new Specialized M2-series battery features a 500Wh capacity. And, of course, still seamlessly integrated inside the frame and is easily removable, too.

Love it

As the years add up, my endurance and strength decrease. The turbo comp elevates me back into terrain that I had abandoned. However, at 50 lbs I dare not take the bike into technical terrain;also I had to rig a pulley hoist on my bike rack to lift the bike up. Fortunately, I am still strong enough to ride my analog MTB in moderate technical terrain. So, with the ebike and my pedal MTB I do OK for my 88 years.

Love this Bike

This bike got me back on the trails. 50 years and 4 knee surgery's had be on the sidelines. With this bike I can ride like I am a 20 year old. Riding with my high school sons is priceless. Only problem is that it is in the shop a lot, but Specialized has always stood behind their bike and given me free fixes. Buy one, it will change everything you thought you knew about mountian biking.

Modern marvel of e biking

I bought my levo comp 3 months ago. I ride it every opportunity I get. This is the highest quality bike I've ever had ( I've had some good ones)Shifting, braking, shocks, all professional grade .The ride is awesome. And that e motor, oh boy, it is so smooth and to date flawless after about 500 miles ridden. I just can't say enough about it, it's changed my biking world. I highly recommend it

Good job, Specialized

Dear Specialized: Good. Job. This bike (levo comp alum.) is amazing. I took a leap of faith after watching youtube videos and researching all winter, and I could not be happier with my purchase. The bike is just so well designed and so fun to ride. Ten years ago, I gave up mountain biking because I didn't have time to train/stay in shape, I couldn't keep up with my friends, and it just wasn't FUN. As ebikes have gotten better, I started thinking this could be my way back into the sport, and it has worked just like I hoped. I'm back on the trails. I can ride with my friends. And I'm having FUN. So thank you for all your attention to detail and making an awesome bike.

Love the bike, but what about support?

So far I've not had any problems... indeed, great bike. However I took one star away because there are some known issues that Specialized doesn't communicate about with the early '19 Levo. The dealers don't even know what's going on with these fixes. I don't mind spending the extra money as long as the manufacturer will back up their product. What's going on with Specialized?

Get ready for all the FUN

This bike takes any fear or stress out of heading into new terrain. I just jump on, put it into trail mode, and fly up and down all the trails. Suspension is super juicy and comfortable! Brakes are super powerful and easily adjustable. When i ride with friends i usually bounce between eco and no power to keep pace and if i ride on my own its always in trail mode and i fly around. I get more riding in less time and that's what is most important to me...More Fun...That's what you get...you get all the Fun!

2019 Levo 's are the E-Bike other with be judged by

Smoother, light and more efficient than is just the beginning. With confident handling that makes carving through turns predictable, wether at speed or trails riding though boulder field. The mileage is greater than expected with the 500w battery. Mixed power levels delivers an easy 60+ miles. Only recommendations is a ""softer seat"", since riding further is going to be natural. And a few more teeth (larger) in the front sprocket.
