Whether you're heading out with the family for a weekend cruise, grabbing a baguette at the local bakery, or simply going off to work, the Turbo Como 4.0 will get where you're going in stylish comfort.

Beginning with the integrated Specialized 1.2 motor, the Turbo Como proves itself as the ultimate city bike. The 1.2 motor features a silent operating design with our Custom Rx Street Tune that takes the output and makes it the most usable for an urban environment. Think of it this way: The more power you put out, the more power the motor puts out, and this makes accelerations from a standstill both quick and efficient. The belt driven motor is also smooth, silent, and free of annoying vibrations. And the max speed? 28mph.

For the Como 4.0, we developed a custom Specialized U1-500 battery that seamlessly integrates into the frame, is lockable, and easily removable for simplified charging. In other words, there's plenty of juice to take you to and from work, a trip to the grocery store, or even to that new café on the other side of the city. If you wish to see exactly how far you can go on a charge, have a look at our Turbo Range Calculator for more exact estimates.

The new wired Turbo Connect Display (TCD-w) is the best way to view data on your Turbo. It not only displays important ride metrics (speed, cadence, rider power, distance, battery level, time, etc.), it also allows you to connect the latest version of the Mission Control App for an enhanced Turbo experience. With our free app for iOS and Android phones, you easily customize motor parameters, control your range, record/upload rides, and perform basic system diagnosis. For this model, we included our Ground Control Geometry that makes it easy to put a foot down at a stop sign, while also eliminating the struggle of getting on and off the bike. The agile 650b wheels, meanwhile, have also been paired with cushy 2.3-inch tires, so they can roll over most cracks, bumps, and holes with ease to ensure that nothing stands in your way on your path to a good time. And to top off all of these innovative features, we chose a worry-free spec. Along these lines, you'll find Shimano 10-speed components, powerful hydraulic disc brakes, front/rear lights, and fenders.

  • The custom E5 aluminum frame on the Como cleanly houses the battery and motor, while still keeping the lightweight properties that E5 is known for. Pair this with our Ground Control Geometry, and you have a durable and lightweight bike that'll keep you rolling in style.

  • The Turbo Como’s Specialized 1.2 has been fully integrated with the frame, and has been custom-tuned for city riding. It intuitively reacts to the force of your pedaling, so the harder you pedal, the more power it delivers. And with an internal belt drive design, it does this without added vibration for the smoothest and most silent ride possible.

  • We made the custom 500 Wh battery to be fully integrated with the frame, removable for easy charging, and lockable for added security. It communicates with the display and has multiple modes to maximize the overall efficiency and range. For range estimates based upon a variety of variables, please refer to our Turbo Range Calculator.

Fun while it lasted

I have this frame version Como and fit perfectly in XL. I used it 200 miles per month on paved bike trails in Central Florida. Spokes would break with my weight of 200 lbs. The dealer would replace them under warranty. Then the rear rim cracked in three places. Specialized stated it was a few months out of warranty so no service. I moved on to another brand that backs their product.

Great commuter

This bike is a beast. I love my 5 mile commute plus restaurant/grocery runs. The 650b urban tires grip, rip and absorb the bumps, curbs, etc. Just make sure to get the pressure right depending on the load, speed, and terrain. Also go ahead and just slime those tubes up, you'll never notice the weight with the full power motor. I threw a pizza rack on and use it every Pizza Friday that allows. (Get a cargo net as well) Ortlieb panniers work really well on the rack. Front fenders smack around a little, but work amazingly. Especially the flap not breaking off on curb downs. Great bike. It sends. -Johnny

I bought this bike to

I bought this bike to ride on my 7 mile commute to work in South Florida. With the heat and humidity here, I wanted an e-bike as an alternative to my traditional one so that I’m not overheated on arrival and dripping sweat. What a great decision it’s turned out to be. The Turbo Como is an all around great bike. The geometry is its fundamental foundation. Sturdy and stable. It needs no suspension on city roads and gives me full confidence at speed. The motor is quiet and the torque is not overwhelming when starting off from a light. Speed-wise, it’s as advertised- it will hit 28 mph comfortably. I’m a huge fan and would highly recommend the Turbo Como.

Tube Quality

For a e-bike that cost about $3800 the tubes are very poor quality. With less than 150 miles, both tubes were flat when the e-bike was not ridden in about 3 weeks. I had one tube replaced and it’s been about 6 weeks and the replacement tube still has the same tire pressure. I decided to wait until next spring to have the other tube replaced.

Life changing!

My biking life has changed forever…for good! What an amazing machine. A little assist (eco) when you want it. Fully manual if you want a full workout. And sport and turbo modes for speed, effortless hill climbing and the most enjoyable biking experience of my life. Seat is comfortable, controls are well placed and intuitive. Such a great design. My wife got the step-through, and we’re OFF!!

An amazing bike

I now have over 500 miles on this bike. I am truly amazed by the power assist while ridding. I had a minor problem with the bike not powering up a few times but a software update took care of that. I am truly amazed while powering up steep hills how easy it is to ride. I have biked up some steep hill before on my mountain bike but this electric assist will get you to the top right now. If you ride in country with a lot of hill this bike is perfect for you. We usually vacation in Mamoth Ca. Lots of bike paths, These bike will sell themselves. I was on my mountain bike, my son said take the como 4 for a ride. Well I hoped on and rode up hill back to my truck. 15 miles an hour, I was blown away, Well now for the rest of the story. I told my son I am getting one of these. Well a month later I bought one at Action Sports in Bakersfield, My son bought one, and he told me that they have a pink one for mom. Well the wife got the pink one. These electric assist bikes make ridding a joy. If you don't believe me go and take a test ride. I know there are cheaper bikes but you get what you pay for. Great bike.

Como 4.0 is great at first, but can it handle the miles

My brother and I have 3 specialized e-bikes, 2 Comos and a Vado. So... we went all in on ebikes. I have the como 4.0. I've had it since June 10th, 2020. This bike has about 1400 miles in 2 and a half months. No mountain or trail riding. Just road and bucks county canal towpath riding (gravel paved). The bike has not held up as I would have liked. I clean the bike because it gets dirty, especially derailed, chain, pedal crank, etc. the bike skips either in top gear or when the motor is close to top speed (I ride a lot and I ride fast / that's why I got this). I have emailed specialized through the web site and called at least 5 times each..: NO ONE FROM SPECIALIZED HAS RETURNED A MESSAGE ONCE! Not good. I bought the bike at firehouse cycles in Yardley pa. The owner is great. He fixes and helps - but I live 20 minutes away. I'd rather do stuff myself and would Like some support and help from specialized. But I have received ZERO from them and their manual is useless. The app does not work. Firehouse can't get it to work. So... no... it's not me. My brother can not get his to work on one of his bikes either. The fenders???? They are flimsy and not well attached. The rear one had the metal support ""pop out"" of its tab (it must have loosened out - it's not attached), the fender caught the tire, the rear tire (thankfully!!!) locked up, the metal rod that holds the fender flung out and gashed my leg!!! I had to ride it back all bent up and the metal rod sticking out and the fender kept catching up between the wheel and the frame whenever the fender caught up! What a junket! I came home, took the metal piece off and cut the fender down to just above the 12 o'clock position. It's still all bent up, so I'm saving everything, have photos and hope to get a replacement that is not such trash. The bottom line?)? The actual frame, motor, lights, most equipment is really great and I LOVE RIDING THIS THING. The reality is that I do not know if this has the durability for long trm
