Total control, unparalleled bump-eating suspension, and a fine-tunable geometry are hallmarks of the all-new Stumpjumper EVO Expert. Top it off with a build that blends quality, affordability, and durability, and it’s the perfect trail partner, no matter where those trails are, or how rowdy they get.

  • All the travel in the world is useless without the proper shock tuning and kinematics. For the new Stumpjumper EVO design, we prioritized kinematic performance. Applying lessons learned while developing the Enduro, then following that with more than 1,000 hours of field and suspension lab development, we’ve not only improved the pedaling performance of the Stumpjumper, but we’ve made it more capable, agile, and lively. We increased anti-squat, so the suspension better resists pedal bob, and we further improved bump performance on square-edge hits. Bottom line? This thing shreds trails, not legs.
  • The S-Sizing geometry of the new Stumpjumper EVO is our most progressive yet. Long, low, slack, short offset fork, steeper seat tube angle – these are requirements for modern progressive riding. But not everyone jibs the same way, which is why the geo on the new Stumpjumper EVO is fully adjustable with six different settings. You can adjust the BB height by 10mm, you can adjust your head angle by two-degrees, and you can make these adjustments independently of each other. Finally, if you want to go full-party mullet-mode, the EVO lets you run a 27.5-inch rear wheel mated with a 29-inch front.
  • Rider-First Engineered™ frames use a size-specific approach to ride characteristics that ensures benchmark handling and flawless performance, regardless of frame or rider size. Whether you’re a jump-happy grom riding an S1, or a DH-fiend giant in need of the lengthy S6, you’ll experience the same ride traits – rail-sharp cornering and balanced front and rear stiffness – at the lightest-possible weight.
  • We introduced the SWAT™ door on the Stumpjumper in 2016, adding room IN your frame for those “oh sh**t” necessities like pumps and spare tubes, and immediately rendering jersey pockets redundant. With the new Stumpjumper, we have increased the volume and added a SWAT™ Bladder, giving you an extra 22oz of water storage – the same size as a small water bottle – hidden in your downtube.

Best Bike Ever! Climbs Like a Goat/Descends Like a Beast!!!!!

Shopped around for year or so and settled on the Stumpy Evo Expert. Coming off a 2011 26'er 3x10, I was thinking maybe I made a mistake. Boy was I wrong! This thing climbs like a goat, descends like a beast and put the fun back into riding. I'm a 5'6 woman and settled on an S2 for increased maneuverability. I was concerned that it would feel like a couch on the uphill being so plush and all, but nope! Best climbing bike I've ever had. The 52t granny gear will get you up anything and the back wheel doesn't slide out, even when climbing steeper loose/rocky sections. Rolled right over every obstacle. Handled tight, hairpin turns like nobody's business. Today's inaugural ride was a big success! The rest of my summer's gonna be amazing! Buy this bike!

Buy this bike! It’s amazing 🤩

This bike is by far the best bike I’ve ever owned, fast nimble, super slick suspension that just cuts through roots like butter, also gives brilliant downhill control and is brilliant up hill, extremely efficient and the components on the stumpjumper expert are top notch. Best choice and compèred to many other bikes it’s brilliant value!

The only thing I wish is better engagement on the rear hub. I did the dt Swiss upgrade for rear hub engagement. Everything is now just like I like it!!

This bike is awesome, I rode trials on my hardtail and on this bike 2 weeks later. The difference was night and day. This climbed like a goat! I was amazed at the difference. The bike shop that assembled it and anyone whom has seen it comments on its appearance also. It is good looking and performs well. Would definitely recommend!

This bike is amazing!! I used to ride a cross country race bike and wanted something that would give me a bit more confidence on descents and boy did this deliver! I also was really impressed with how well it climbs considering how much better it is for descending than my old bike. 11/10!

Love at First Ride

Was considering a new bike and a friend who works at Specialized recommended the EVO. I am glad I took a chance a demo'd this bike. Coming from a 27.5 bike I was convinced that 29er's wouldn't work for my height of 5'8". Man was I wrong. Did a wet weather ride in Squamish and the bike rode like it was on rails. Broke a bunch of PR's and had so much fun. The bike was easier to pedal than my last, super playful and climbs very efficiently. Unfortunately I couldn't find an expert build near me in Canada. However, I found and bought a new frame and did my own dream build. Loved that this bike has the option to be a mullet and has so much adjustability. Although, it is so much fun as a full 29'er I think I will leave it the way it is. Very impressed with the build quality and would highly recommend. Specialized hit it out of the park with this bike.

Southern Vancouver Island perfect

My son gifted me a 2022 SJ Evo expert.I have been riding a 2020 140/130 Downcountry bike from another brand. We have very janky,technical.slab-o-lious trails here on Vancouver Island.Within minutes on the SJ Evo,I noticed a huge difference while riding my favorite trails. This bike wants to go fast.I found myself riding bigger rolls and hucks than before...it's like the bike dumbed down the trails. The longer wheel base, travel and slacker front end took a little getting used to but these traits make a faster, rowdier machine when pointing downhill. We do a lot of technical climbing in these parts and this bike kills it!My son rides the SJ Evo Pro and raves about it.I see why now.I highly recommend the SJ Evo!!

Great all-arounder

Great all around bike for all types of terrain, has an emphasis on going down. The terrain I ride is shorter punchy technical and steep ups with technical rocky and rooty downs. This bike handles it all very well. Climbs great, has a ton of traction, descends even better. I have owned a bunch of Stumpy's and the evo isn't as snappy at acceleration as the normal stumpy but it goes down way nicer.

Does Everything Well

Riding this bike on trails, you'll think you are on a short travel, nimble, playful bike. Take it on black diamonds in the bike park, and you'll think you have a light enduro rig. It is a very good climber, and does well over the techy stuff, albeit with an active rear end. On flow trails, it almost disappears beneath you, and you can throw it around with ease. Going through techy descents, the bike certainly has a can-do attitude. BUT, it needs rider input. It's not a full on enduro bike that plows through the rough stuff. Coming from riding 2.4-2.5 inch tires for years, I was skeptical about the 2.3s on the bike. Quickly, my worries were put aside. The Butcher and Eliminator, with Cush Core inserts, have been awesome. and exceeded my expectations. Definitely take the time to dial in every setting on the suspension. It makes a huge difference in how the bike rides. Shout out to Blue Wheel Bicycles for selling me the bike, setting it up, and helping me dialing it in.

Great adjustability. I actually testing settings.

I wasn't sure how much I would mess with the geo adjustments, but I did. I started with BB in Low, and Headset in Steep. Now I'm have the BB at high and Headset at middle setting. The pedal switch works great for smooth climbs. The tool under the bottle cage is SO AWESOME! Swat box is great too as it lightens up the load in my fanny pack. The Santa Cruz Hightower pedals a bit more efficiently on the climbs, but I like this bike more overall. Critique: The bottle cage is a tad lower than I'd prefer, but at least now I never worry about accidentally flipping the pedal switch when removing the bottle. The dropper post could be longer so I can get maximum drop. I'm 5'6 on S3 and want to squeeze another 10-15mm out of the dropper.

Ultimately I decided to go with the Stumpjumper EVO Expert because it rode better and I felt way more confident on it. Not to mention the innovations like the SWAT system and the adjustability at the front and rear. Its a true "all mountain" bike. Well done Specialized!!

incredible bike. climbs like a

incredible bike. climbs like a goat, thanks to the steepened seat tube and increased anti squat on this model from the last, and descends like the clock is ticking, with great precision i might add. great job to all involved in the design of this rig. the support from the float x is noticeable coming off of the dpx2 on the 2019 model, and the grip2 damper is way more active than the fit4 i had on my last bike. only a couple things i think could be better, but its to do with the spec, not the bike itself. 1- 180mm dropper on the s4? really? i am 5'10" on the dot, and put a 200 in and have about 4 inches of post still out of the frame, a 180 seems as if they are almost expecting you to replace it. 2- grid trail tire casings: this bike is designed and built to smash through anything in front of it, and those casings just don't do it justice. would have been cool to see grid gravity tires on there as i would see those more fit to the intent of the bike. lastly, i am overjoyed to see sram codes being stocked with 200mm rotors front and rear on this bike. great power and control, significantly better than the guides.

Been after a new MTB

Been after a new MTB for a while and set my heart on a Stumpjumper EVO Comp, but when I saw these come into stock in my size I grabbed one and can say so far really happy with the bike. The bike arrived setup and ready to go just needed to turn the bars and add the pedals, shock settings and saddle height had already been taken care of by the Specialized team. I have only clocked up 160Km in the last few weeks but have enjoyed everyone of them, ride is smooth, suspension is great, and the nice features like SWAT and the multi-tool built into the bottle cage are very smart. Still making very fine adjustments to suit my riding but style already seeing the PBs clock up on Strava.

Great rig!

I've had the bike for 6 months and have put some mileage on it. I'm coming off a Bronson (2014) that I loved. Circumstances pushed me back to Specialized - and I'm glad for it. It took me a hot minute to get used to the modern geometry and lengths, but this bike is my all time fave. (50 years old and have been riding MTBs since my teenage years.) I'm 6'1" with a 34" inseam and the S5 fits like a glove. The performance of this thing is outstanding, and confidence inspiring like non other. I don't know that I'd change anything other than a slightly higher BB (peddle strikes are a little annoying). The tires are the bomb, handling is so smooth, SWAT box is awesome (no more hip or back pack!) Easy to set up with guides from Fox that are spot on. Nice job, Specialized.

Ride it hard - just wish a couple things were different

I think this is a fantastic all around bike. Jumps, downhills and climbing are all fun, controlled and awesome. Im 6’ 1” 31” inseam and the s5 is so comfortable. I love the silent rear hub, super quiet in the woods, just hear the tires on the ground. Comes tubeless tape installed, just pull the tubes, insert provided (or your own 44mm valves. I wish they would have just gone kashima and added $250 to the price - otherwise, I think the grip 2 suspension is fantastic. The only thing to me that sucks are the brakes. Code RS? Super squishy, nothing like my old bike XT 4 pistons. I thought Codes were for downhill? Very underwhelming. Maybe Magura in my future. Can you all please include all volume spacers next time?? How expensive is it really to drop 5 front amd the shock token kits in the bag?

Love it!

I’ve had the bike for about 8 months. I upgraded from a bike with less suspension and this bike feels so good on the downhill! I ride in the desert with lots of chunky trails and the suspension is dialed in. It climbs better then I thought it would and rips on the downhill. I haven’t had any issues with components thus far. Love it!

Great bike and great service.

I ordered this for my husband’s birthday a couple of days before Christmas and it arrived within a week. Gear Head were brilliant, swapping the brakes and going tubeless. My husband was pretty overwhelmed but he has got over the shock and ridden it now! He loves it. The bars are a bit too wide, but easy to sort. The suspension is adaptable and delivers a great ride. Overall a fabulous bike and I might get a ride in myself sometime soon…

Great Bike, Needs Tweaks

I've been mountain biking for about 14 years. I got the S3 and I'm 5'6", but have a 32" inseam. I've ridden the bike 2x and have LOVED each ride. Going from a 140 rear shock to 150 has been fun. It's stock it with a 50mm stem. Why? I immediately replaced it with a 35mm ($100). The saddle sucked! On my first 1.5 hr ride my ass hurt, and I ride often, so I switched it out for the WTB Volt ($100). I have a 150 dropper and could use a 180. Allowing buyers to choose the length on the website instead of having to buy another one would be nice. The cute tool holder is facing down, so I used and lost my tool on the first ride. Upward facing construction would make it easier to see what you're doing when putting it back and harder to fall out. So far, I'm extremely happy with the bike and would recommend it to someone else. It's light-ish, climbs and descends great, and has a shorter reach, which I need.

This bike makes me look good😉

The Stumpy EVO allowed me to get comfortable in the shortest time ever. I started setting Personal Records on the local trails that I have been riding for years within the first week. I cleared jumps that I never have before, the bike carries speed through corners and rough stuff incredibly well. The pedal platform is very firm and supportive and I catch myself standing up more. I feel more playful on this rig than any other bike prior despite the longer travel and 29er wheels. Job well done Team Specialized
