S-Works Shiv Disc

2020 S-Works Shiv Disc

Pro Tip: Use our Shiv Finder to determine the proper Shiv size for you.

We've never been ones for dogmatic rules. And with a little defiance of the UCI's rule book, the Shiv sets the new standard for speed—again. It keeps its aero, fuel, and fit focus, but does so in an entirely new and novel way. Yes, it has disc brakes. Yes, it's easy to travel with. And yes, it takes aero to unheard of heights using storage and fit features that also make you faster. There's only one bike that's going to help get you to the top of the podium this season and that's the Shiv Disc.

To ensure that it's "race-ready, right out of the box," we've spec'd the S-Works Shiv Disc with only the top components. Shimano's Dura-Ace Di2 with hydraulic disc brakes is in charge of both shifting and braking duties. Our S-Works Power Cranks, meanwhile, provide you with all the power data you'd ever need. And for the rolling stock, the Roval CLX 64 Disc wheels are not only extremely aerodynamic, but they're far lighter than any other wheels in their class.

Get it on like Donkey Kong!

I picked up bike 273/500 last week and took it for its first serious hills training ride yesterday (170km & 2000m climb). This thing climbed as good as my 2020 Venge Pro and unlike my older Shiv Pro (running Roval CL64 clinchers) I could actually stop when I wanted! What a concept! No more planned braking for me! I'm 182cm and opted for the medium size (same as my previous Shiv Pro) and found this to be the right fit for me... The large felt too large... In saying that I'm running a M/L (56cm) Venge Pro, which feels good. On the flat is where this thing stands out. The front end is ultra stiff and accelerates brilliantly for a big bike. Up at cruising speed, I found it holding a 38km/h pace on the flat with very little effort. I'm looking forward to ""nerding"" up some of my regular Strava segments in excel to see what the real world difference between the two Shiv versions in similar weather and road conditions, to see the delta in times and effort... In the months to come. I found the Dura-Ace cassette creaked by the end of the ride, but this was easily fixed by a strip down silicon spray on the rivets. I also have a rattle in the drop bars, but I think this is the Di2 shifter button cables, should be a easy fix. Adjusting the drop bar stack height is a bit of a mission (not for the faint hearted), but on the flip side the aero bars are easy. The watertank on the back was good yesterday, but I suffered a modern world issue when I couldn't top it from a standard garden tap out on the road. On the water tank, if you want to run a gel type nutrition in the tank, forget it. I tried Maurten in there yesterday and it just clogged the nipple in the bottom of the bladder. On nutrition, the fuel cell is larger than the previous model, but still a little too small for my liking. I do like the tool and spare storage space, a lot easier to stow the gear and retrieve, just need a thick sock. I haven't tired the bike bag yet, but looks to have all the good bits.
