Conquer mountains, flatten hills, and feel your bike come alive with the lightest road clincher wheels we have ever made. Mass is the enemy of performance, and there’s no room nor excuse for a single excess gram when chasing KOMs and mountaintop primes. Weight has been pared to the absolute minimum in order to capitalize on every watt of energy without sacrificing any of the strength, ride quality and durability that are crucial to long term performance and satisfaction.

Nolonger comes with wheel bags

You may have read all over the internet that these come with Roval padded wheel bags. Well, that's no longer the case. Specialized's response: "Sorry ... we are all out." Also, regarding tire mounting. Mounting by hand is relatively straightforward if you push tire bead into center channel all the way around. Then pump to ~100psi until whole tire audibly pops into place. Once you do that, you can deflate to your normal pressure. Otherwise you'll have an unevenly mounted tire. My concern is that I now need to carry tire levers, as I've found taking a tire off by hand without levers to be impossible. Otherwise, if you're reading this, you know what you're getting. A super light, high-quality climbing wheel.

Tire mounting tip

Just like the other reviewer at first I couldn't get the tires to mount to the Alpinist rims to save my life then I took the time to push the tire beads into the inner center channel of the rim all the way around the wheel and then it was a piece of cake. These wheels are supposedly not recommended for tubeless but the rim bead has a lower center channel and raised outer channel like most tubeless rims - makes you wonder if they were originally intended to be run tubeless. Anyway, if you let the tire sit on the outer raised channel then the tire bead will be stretched and will be almost impossible to mount. By pushing the tire bead into the lower center channel it creates enough slack to mount tires (in my case S-Works Turbo) with just your hands.

The KOMs are calling

This is an incredibly light wheelset. Out of the box, mine weighed 1260g after removing the packaging. Once all of the components were added to get it on the bike and ride, we had a final weight of 2.43kg (5lb 6oz), They are insanely light! Specialized provides a nice wheelbag for each wheel and some extra spokes. The overall look of these wheels is super slick. I love that the logo is more subtle. The DT swiss internals sound super clean and engagement seems to be pretty quick. Although the wheelset is not tubeless compatible, the rim is still taped so the spoke holes are covered. Overall the wheelset looks super slick and very clean Not to worry either, these wheels have it where it counts. On the climbs they are stiff and have a very nice power transfer. Obviously their weight makes them one of the most ideal wheelsets on the market for climbing. The DT hubs lend themselves to a good level of engagement for road wheels. You can also expect them to be compliant enough to create a smooth and comfortable ride. They have crisp handling that will allow you to make sharp turns on your descents and you won't be buffeted around by crosswinds.
