    2018 Men's Epic Hardtail Comp

Cross country courses are nothing like they used to be. Today's tracks have more in common with trail riding than the pancake flat NORBA courses of yesteryear. For this reason, we threw away the hardtail rulebook and drafted our own chapter to create the Epic Hardtail Comp. We took a revolutionary new frame design and spec'd it specifically for the rigors of racing contemporary XC courses.

It's one of the lightest frames we've ever made, tipping the scales around 1175g. And to make it this light, we built the entire frame from our superlative FACT 11m carbon fibre, and then we took some cues from our road bikes. We borrowed the Rider-First Engineered™ concept that originated with the Tarmac. Now, the frame design applies specificity to every tube size and carbon layup for every frame size. This creates the optimal balance of rigidity, weight, and responsiveness, so every frame, regardless of size, performs just as we intended.

We've also tweaked the geometry for more speed and stability by slacking-out the head tube angle, lengthening the top tube, and correcting the seat tube angle. This way, it feels more planted then ever, and frankly, it's stupid fast. We also widened the rear spacing to 12x148mm and included internal split-housing cable routing.

For the build, this Epic takes value to new heights with a custom-tuned RockShox Reba RL fork, 1x11 SRAM GX shifting, and fast rolling Roval Control alloy wheels.

    Perfect ebike conversion frame

I own the 29er from 2018 in black and red and converted it to full electric using the bafang HD 1000 watt kit. This is the perfect bike for such a conversion.

    Absolutely my favorite bike ever

I loved this bike. I mean I really LOVED this bike. First high performance bike I've ever owned & it did not let me down. Unfortunately I had it stolen from the front of the bus that I was riding on Christmas Eve of 2018 & I've never gotten over it & I'll never be able to afford something as beautiful & fun as this ever again.

    Weekend Warrior Rocketship

After a season and a half on this thing and 1600 mostly-trail miles, I can confidently say I love this bike. Locally I'm a mid-pack expert class XC racer with an occasional podium appearance, and this bike is still more capable than me. I set it up tubeless, put a carbon seatpost and handlebar with my favorite foam grips on it, and it weighs in at 22.6lb with pedals, bottle cages, and GPS mount in size XL. Given it's the Comp model, you can't really ask for much more than the build it comes with, nor do you honestly need more as anyone less than a top-tier racer on the bleeding edge of performance. The only thing I would wish for would be slightly wider wheels; the aluminum Rovals it comes with are great no doubt and at a respectable weight, but another 3-4mm of internal width would support the super-supple Fast Traks much better I think.

    Nice hardtail

Not as light as I would have expected: 23.8 lbs with pedals in size large- tubeless, rides nice, handles well, stiff but compliant, very long reach! the pink neon color is amazing in real life, it's a head-turner!
