    2021 Epic EVO Expert

Looking for a bike that soars as well as it sprints? Look no further than the Epic EVO Expert.

Wheels up or head down, the Epic EVO Expert's masterful blending of inspired handling, capable geometry and laser-focused pedaling efficiency makes sure no rider ever has to make the decision between fast and fun.

While the Epic EVO sees a seemingly modest 20-millimeter increase in suspension travel up front over its Epic stablemate and just 10-millimeters out back, we've worked overtime to make sure it's been implemented in a way that'll have you saying 'Whoa!' as soon as you hit your first stretch of singletrack.

Meticulously engineered to retain as much of the Epic's standard-setting efficiency as possible, the EVO's new suspension kinematics work in concert with Rx XC Tune customized suspension front and rear to ensure you're able to make the absolute most out of every inch of travel on tap, while still offering increased anti-squat characteristics for improved pedaling efficiency.

With plenty of practice at staying ahead of the curve, the Epic EVO now lays claim to the most capable iteration of our Progressive XC Geometry ever to grace an Epic. It's also more versatile than ever thanks to a new flip chip-equipped rear end that allows riders to adjust headtube angle and bottom bracket height to easily customize Epic EVO's handling characteristics.

SRAM's high-flying X01 Eagle group handles shifting duties, while RockShox's SID Select+ is firmly in charge of takeoffs and landings with it's capable Charger 2 RL damper.

    yes

2021, Blue, upgraded, 22.6 lbs, S Works Fast Track 2.3's, XO1 cranks/cassette XX1 chain, Eagle 36t Chainring, GX cranks came on it with X1 stamped on them?? SID Ultamate Forks Blue, (forks are amazing) I needed more steer tube to get Shifter/brakes above top tube, so I cut the stem an inch higher, works now, Syncros Hixton bars integrated stem, Charge Titanium rail saddle much longer, Crank Bros Carbon Seat Post, Crank Bros Eggbeaters, some of the parts came off my 2018 Epic I sold. Bike is great, more bike then I need, but it sure is fun to ride for an old fart of 75, I need all the advantages I can get, gives most of the younguns fits trying to keep up..4th Epic, best yet..Thank you Specialized..

    Great long term bike

Mine is a 2018 model which is very similar except it only has 100mm of travel front and back. It now has 3,340 miles on it according to Garmin Connect. It used to get a lot of trail work until I hurt my shoulder. It still gets some trail work on the novice trails but is mostly used on a mix of sand trails, mixed trails and pavement. The only problem I've had with the bike is when the derailleur hanger got caught on a metal piece on a trail. I've replaced the tires once and it gets an annual check up. I'm not a lightweight but the frame has not had any problems and I check regularly. Okay I have a thing for stairs. Given how it has been used, and sometimes abused, this has been one of my great all time bikes. And I've had a lot of bikes. Three thumbs up!

Better than i had hoped for.

Have about 500 miles on it now with about a couple dozen rides, and it still impresses me every time i ride it, super fast, great handling, loves to climb, and bombs the down, best biking investment i've ever made. Happy i purchased it.

    So far so good. Except....

I sold my 2019 stumpy for something more pedal friendly with capability of descending. To be completely honest, I haven't had a chance since its winter to really test everything. I wanted to comment because of the handlebars. There is no way you can ensure the gear lever does not hit the top tube with the stock handlebars. I had to buy a riser bar, nothing too crazy, to make sure it clears in the case of a crash. I think this is a major oversight. Someone reviewed their large having this issue as well (mine is XL). Just beware. Other than that, I love everything else. I also love that I can almost completely lock out the suspension so it picks up speed in a hurry. Once this weather breaks, Ill hit the trails and see how it does.

Can't stop smiling when I ride it...

My 2021 Epic Evo Expert is super fun. I rode an Ibis Ripley for 5 years and I can honestly say, that this Epic Evo is in many ways, a way funner bike. Yeah, I know funner is not a word, but this bike shouldn't ride as well as is does either, so it's fitting. The bike rides better than the geometry suggests. I half expected a harsh, semi-twitchy ride that climbed okay and descended a little better than a hard tail. Instead, it's a natural climber and a semi-rowdy but stable descender that soaks up all but chunkiest rocks and large drops. At high speed, the bike is predictable and confident. It goes where you point it when cornering and the carbon wheels feel tiff but compliant. The lack of overall weight lends to snappy responses and long climbs are less painful. My only gripe is that the top tube and handlebar are at approximately the same height, so if you tip or crash, and the bars twist, the pointy part of the rear shifter slams directly against the top tube. The stem can't be raised anymore and changing the angle of the shifter doesn't help, so I don't see a way to fix it, other than applying protective tape/rubber on the top tube, which I've done. Now, I don't know if this applies to all frame sizes, so you might check if it's a real concern. Personally, this would not stop me from buying this bike, because of how great it feels. For reference, I'm 5'10"", 180lbs and the Large feels perfect.

    An extremely versatile rocket

I used to have an 2019 epic evo comp, upgraded to this model. It is a feather in comparison. Lots of fun downhill though it is twitchier than a Stumpjumper which is fully expected. From a certain point of view, that's a plus. This bike is very capable and yet makes any trail interesting. I love being able to really fully lock suspensions which makes this bike even better of a ascender. Every single newton I produce goes into the wheels.

Awesome ride, when it's not broken

Bought the 2019 Epic Evo Expert. It was the greatest ride ever, but the rear shock needed service after just one year. After weeks of waiting, got the bike back, and the suspension linkage blew apart in the first week, cracking the frame in three places. Specialized hasn't replaced anything yet, so I have been unable to ride for months. What good is a lifetime warranty if they can't offer you a comparable replacement? Five stars for ride quality. One star for durability. Negative stars for Specialized's rider support. (They tried to offer me a hardtail as a replacement.)

Way more than a race bike, thank God!

I've ridden many variations of Epics of the years, love this one way more than others. Better feeling downhill, still blitzes up and it's light and nimble. The geometry is right on as is the spec for multiple styles of trails. I always swap for a carbon low rise bar and different stem to absorb a bit more vibration and a slightly more poppy ride. Great fun!

Hell yeah! Finally the perfect bike arrives.

Race on Saturday, shred All day endurance ride Sunday, train/ride all week. Rinse repeat. This bike does it all except crazy downhill trails. Buy this bike (sight unseen if needed) before there is none left to buy. It is going to be 2021 bike of the year. IMHO. FWIW: size xl W/ no pedals, w/ cage & inner tube, was 25.04 lbs.
