—these are just a few highlights on Sofía Gómez Villafañe’s glittering résumé. But they don’t define the incredible rider, racer, and person that Sofía is.
Born in Esquel, Patagonia, Sofía moved to California at age 12. She discovered mountain biking through the NorCal High School MTB Program. She later raced at the collegiate level for Fort Lewis College in Colorado, where she studied Exercise Science & Business.
After securing three cross-country championships in Argentina and competing in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, Sofía shifted her focus to the North American gravel scene. She shot to the top in 2021 with her first major gravel win at Crusher in the Tushar—and hasn’t looked back since.
Now based in Midway, Utah, and Tucson, Arizona, with fiancé and fellow gravel racer Keegan Swenson and their dog, Sofía is also a vocal advocate for equity in women's pro gravel racing—championing fair competition and equal treatment for these world-class athletes.
