Protect Yourself from Fake Specialized Websites

We’ve seen a surge in scam websites pretending to be Specialized. These sites use our name, photos, and even logos to trick riders into thinking they’re buying real products—only to steal your money or personal information. We want to help you ride safe and shop safe.

How to Spot a Fake Specialized Website

Too Good to Be True? It Probably Is.

If you see a new S-Works for half off, stop. Scammers often use massive discounts to lure riders in. We never discount like that—especially on high-end gear.

Check the Domain and Age of the Site

Be suspicious of domains like:

• specialized-bikes-outlet.com

• shop-specialized-sale.net

• sworksdeals.co

Use WhoIs Domain Tools to check if a site is new or shady. If it was registered recently or the owner info is hidden—don’t trust it. A brand-new site offering steep discounts is a major red flag.

Look at the Contact Info

Does the site list a phone number that works? Does the address exist? Is there any real customer service? Scammers usually get this stuff wrong—or skip it altogether.

Fake Ads on Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok? Report Them.

Scammers often run ads on social media promising huge deals on Specialized bikes or gear. If the discount looks suspicious and the link doesn’t take you to specialized.com, it’s likely a scam.

Here’s how to report a fake ad on Facebook or Instagram:

1. Click the ••• (three dots) in the top right corner of the ad.

2. Select “Report Ad.”

3. Choose “Misleading or scam”

From the TikTok app:

1. Go to the post and tap the Share button, or press and hold the post.

2. Tap Report and select a reason. If prompted, select a subtopic.

3. Tap Submit.

Reporting fake ads helps protect the entire riding community.

If You Think You’ve Been Scammed

• Stop using the site immediately.

• Call your bank or credit card company to report fraud.

• Change any passwords you may have reused.

• Send your PayPal claim number to [email protected] plus the site that scammed you.

Sadly, if you buy from a fake site, there’s nothing we can do to recover your money. But we are working with Meta, PayPal and TikTok to help prevent others from falling into the same trap.
