Before all this? Remco was on Belgium’s U16 national football team. At 17, he pivoted to cycling—and never looked back. Within a year, he put the world on notice, winning both the time trial and road race at the World and European Junior Championships. By 19, he was racing pro.
On his Tour de France debut, he almost won the whole thing. He won a stage, finished third overall, and took home the white jersey. Just one week later? Double Olympic gold in the road race and time trial in Paris. In 2025, he once again showed remarkable resilience, successfully recovering from an injury. His comeback was explosive, immediately winning his first race back at De Brabantse Pijl, then followed it up with a stage victory in the Tour de France by conquering the opening time trial. This upward trend defined the rest of his season.
Remco has ridden Specialized his entire career and will continue to do so even with his move to team Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe from the start of the 2026 season. It’s a move he’s taken to further challenge and push his performance to the next level, but still with the confidence that Specialized will be with him all the way. His drive to go faster fuels our innovation—pushing boundaries and helping shape the Tarmac SL8, the fastest road bike in the world.
