The world’s fastest riders are always hungry for more traction. So when Loïc Bruni, Finn Iles, and Chris Grice from the Gravity team reached out to us to develop a mountain bike tire to tame World Cup Downhill tracks, we cooked up something that will satisfy even the most aggressive appetites. We completely redesigned the Cannibal tread pattern, integrating our super-sticky GRIPTON® T9 compound with a high-volume casing that brings superior control to any terrain. Staggered shoulder blocks maximize cornering stability, and large center braking blocks bite aggressively into the ground. Engineered to the design specifications of our riders, the Cannibal balances weight and durability with GRID Gravity casing for Enduro, Downhill, and Park riding. The Cannibal delivers the unbeatable combination of grip, confidence, and control to devour any track.

  • High-volume casing and staggered shoulder blocks for predictable high-speed cornering.

  • Re-designed center knobs and siping form strong surface connections.

  • Wide braking edges and massive center blocks cut in for maximum deceleration.

  • GRIPTON® T9 compound reduces terrain-induced chatter, enhancing confidence at warp speeds.

  • Compliant and adaptable GRID GRAVITY 2-ply casing construction is ideal for Enduro, Park, and Downhill riding.

  • 2Bliss Ready technology protects against pinch flats, cuts, and punctures.

  • Discover recommended air pressure for 27.5" and 29" mountain bike tires.

Cannibal T9

fast order and delivery, rubber compound is soft and grippy, softer than a maxxterra, great traction in the corners and riding back to back with an assegai can hardly tell the difference. braking performance is good on the front too, matched with a butcher on the rear gives a good balance of speed and grip with predictable break out on the rear of you like to ride steeezy.

One of the best tires out there!

Just some background information: I'm 13, 6.0' and 63 kgs and live in Victoria (Aus). As a more gravity-orientated rider, I needed a slightly thicker set of tires compared to the factory (Bontrager) XR5's which came standard on the bike. If you are big and strong, fitting these tires would probably be pretty easy, but I definitely needed some help to fit them. Otherwise, they are pretty quick rolling tires (considering I basically came off Minion DHRII's in the XR5's), with tons of grip for a 2.4" and also an ultra thick, protective casing. It would be nice to have a Grid Trail option for the front as 1400g is a bit on the heavy side, but for a proper DH tire they don't feel TOO heavy. Ultra grippy and protective tire for gravity-orientated riders, but probably a little bit overkill for a trail bike. Definitely would recommend, and will probably come back to these again.

Send it on a budget

Banging DH tyre, loads of grip, super soft & haven't had flat/tear yet. Also a nice touch that my wallet doesn't cry every timee I have to buy a new pair.

Insane grip

This tire beats out the maxxis Assegai and DHF in terms of grip. Braking is excellent as well, I haven't found something this tire isn't good at. Paired with a butcher in the rear gives a good balance of more grip up front and a little less in rear for some nice slide control.

A fantastic tyre

Finally Specialized has produced something that can compete with the other big tyre manufactures. This is a "gravity" tyre as the title suggests. If you prioritise grip then look no further!

New T9 rubber is soft

New T9 rubber is soft and pretty grippy. A bit disappointed the cannibal only comes in a DH casing though. I am running cannibal in front and butcher in rear and would prefer to have the trail casing in the front to keep weight down some

Beefy, Burly and Grippy

Amazing tire for fast, chunky riding. Especially if the conditions are a bit dry, this tire really shines. The larger blocked knobs feel incredibly stable at speeds and when cornering. Highly recommend this tire as both a front and rear for anyone looking to pick up a few seconds on the downhill. Lastly the extra thick sidewall has allowed me to run lower tire pressure than I ever have before which is rad!

More traction than a butcher

Only have a few rides on this tire, but am very happy so far. Great cornering and braking performance, and clears mud well. Been running it on a levo and can’t wait to try it on a demo
