    2018 Men's Rockhopper Pro

If you're ready to take your trail riding to the next level, let us introduce you to your new friend, the Rockhopper Pro. We built it to be light, durable, and exceedingly capable, but how we did it is far more interesting.

It starts with our new A1 SL alloy frame that has optimized tube shapes which save weight while dramatically improving aesthetics. To go along with these clean new lines, the new Rockhopper also has internal cable routing to further clean up the frame. Lastly, our Sport XC 29 geometry adjusts the reach, angles, and standover height to make for an improved fit across the size range. This is sure to keep you ripping and confident while heading both up and down the trail.

This Rockhopper comes spec'd with a mix of renowned Shimano SLX and Deore components, powerful Shimano hydraulic disc brakes that'll stop on a dime, and grippy Ground Control tires that deliver superior control over almost any kind of terrain.

A great entry level bike but comes up short on harder trails

I've ridden this bike for over 2.5 years and I've ridden it on everything from a green flow trail to a double black diamond tech trail. It has seen some small jumps and a roughly 4 foot drop, I was even able to roll away after overshooting a step-down with only the fork needing repairs. When I first stared riding it was perfect for anything up to a blue trail and did not hold me back at all. Unfortunately that didn't last. I progressed up to a black diamond trail within a year and began having issues when I'd push the bike on descents. The fork has very little torsional stiffness which has lead to more than one crash due it twisting under a hard hit and a full rebuild of it 1.5 years in. That being said aside from the qr rear end the frame has been the best part of the bike. The geometry of it with a 120mm front fork is just a bit better on jumps and on steep descents and climbing isn't hindered at all by the increase in travel. It also makes the bike very easy to get used to as it isn't super long or slack. I would personally recommend this to anyone who is just getting in to mountain biking or any rider who isn't going to be trying anything past a blue trail. TLDR: This bike is good for an entry level rider or someone who want's a solid, reliable bike for anything up to a blue trail. The SLX rear derailleur, decent brakes, and sturdy wheelset are a plus, while the Manitou Markhor front fork is lacking in torsional stiffness. This bike can handle whatever is thrown at it, just be ready for it to hit it's limit and be sure you know how to bail when it does.

The best Rockhopper. I've put over 1000km since I bought it back in March of this year. nice and reliable external threaded bottom-bracket and a sleek aesthetic looking frame with the internal cable routing. I did, however, upgrade to better hydraulic brakes, and a tubeless tire set up. I ride with clipless pedals as well. overall, this bicycle is very capable of wherever you intend to ride in whatever conditions. solid components and very vibrant colour choice ( i own the Rocket Red colour option). the bike is quite stable at high speed on most trails, ""flicky"" at lower speeds, agile in roots and corners. very good at climbing. This isn't a trail bicycle (not sure why on Specialized's website, this is listed in the Trail category) But the head-tube angle is 69 degrees and the reach is somewhere at 420mm. The seat tube angle is also 69 degrees, again that makes this bicycle extremely agile at climbing and out-of-saddle kind of ""techy"" climbs. Love this bicycle, id recommend it to anyone looking to buy the same model, though, My dream hard-tail mountain bike from Specialized would be their S-Works Epic bike, but hey i am quite pleased with this Rockhopper!

    Awesome Bike!

My first Mountain Bike 25 years ago was a Rockhopper, so getting back into, naturally I went to what I enjoyed to much before. These new models are built with precision and do not disappoint! Initially it was a tough decision between versions of the RH, but when it came down to it, the specs on the Pro excelled. I've only had it a short time, but loving every ride. From on and off road trails, you won't go wrong with a Rockhopper Pro. I just wished they made more, I really had to dig to scoop up the Rocket Red model.
