The Only Aussie to Claim Victory in the Maglia Rosa

Renowned for his climbing prowess, Jai Hindley made history in 2022 as the first Australian to win the Giro d’Italia—delivering Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe their first-ever Grand Tour victory.

It was a powerful moment of redemption. In 2020, Hindley had heartbreakingly lost the Giro on the final stage while wearing the maglia rosa, missing out by just 39 seconds. Two years later, he returned to claim the title he had come so close to, proving both his resilience and his place among cycling’s elite. It also happened to be his first year with Specialized—just sayin’.

Jai has been with Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe since 2022. During his time with the team, he’s taken stage wins at the Giro and the Tour de France and is not only a respected GC leader but also one of the most trusted high mountain domestiques the team has.
