So it has been bothering me that anything over 45 minutes in the saddle kills me. I was hoping to get over this with my miles on the mountain bike and develop the ""callous"" but to no avail. I hit a plateau, and even with my chamois I'm wrecked after an hour. I went to the local bike shop and got the sit bone measurement done. you sit on a gel pad thing for a while and when you get up they measure the relative distance between your sit bones, apparently mine are super wide. normal is about 140-145mm width. apparently I'm 160mm. AHA! I thanked them and bought this saddle right there out of the shop. did a short 5 mile test ride yesterday no chamois, and feels great, oh man what a dummy, I should have done this years ago. Saddle fit is sooo important, I'd say almost as important as shoes. This saddle has a shorter profile which helps for mountain riding, like when you need to get behind or in front of it. But it's so perfect for me I switch it back and forth to my road bike too.
