Lightweight yet stiff. Capable yet efficient. Fun yet focused. Hell, if Goldilocks ever wanted to drop you, our money’s on her picking an Epic EVO Comp to do the job.

While the Epic EVO sees a seemingly modest 20-millimeter increase in suspension travel up front over its Epic stablemate and just 6-millimeters out back, we’ve worked overtime to make sure it’s been implemented in a way that’ll have you saying ‘Whoa!’ as soon as you hit your first stretch of singletrack.

Meticulously engineered to retain as much of the Epic’s standard-setting efficiency as possible, the EVO’s new suspension kinematics work in concert with Rx XC Tune customized suspension front and rear to ensure you're able to make the absolute most out of every inch of travel on tap, while still offering increased anti-squat characteristics for improved pedaling efficiency.

With plenty of practice at staying ahead of the curve, the Epic EVO now lays claim to the most capable iteration of our Progressive XC Geometry ever to grace an Epic. It’s also more versatile than ever thanks to a new flip chip-equipped rear end that allows riders to adjust headtube angle and bottom bracket height to easily customize Epic EVO’s handling characteristics.

Keeping the Epic EVO Comp just right is a well-balanced component mix featuring powerful four-piston SRAM G2 RS brakes, an X-Fusion Manic dropper, and RockShox SID Select fork.

  • Flip It To Rip It: Tune the ride of the Epic EVO’s FACT 11m carbon frame to match your preferred handling characteristics with flip-chip simplicity that allows riders to reduce the EVO’s headtube angle by half a degree while lowering bottom bracket height by 6 millimeters.
  • X-Fusion's Manic dropper post offers infinitely adjustable travel via it's slick shifter-stye remote lever for hassle-free operation when things get dicey.
  • 4-piston calipers on an XC bike? What a wonderfil time to be alive—SRAM's 4-piston G2 RS calipers offer plenty of smooth, controllable power to keep the EVO's newfound speed in check.
  • Tubeless-ready rims feature a modern 30-millimeter internal width, allowing tires to achieve their ideal profile and footprint for optimal traction.

I love my Epic Evo Comp !

I got my Epic Evo Comp the tail end of 2022 I believe it was. During covid it was a bit tough to get an upper scale model so I got the Epic Evo Comp and all I can say is I love this bike! It does what I need. I ride at pretty extreme levels at times and the bike can handle anything on the gnarly side that I put it through. The best part is it's between an XC and trail bike for exactly what I needed. I can lock out the suspension for long climbs, I can use the dropper seat for super steep single tracks, and it came with the wider bars for even more controlled handling. I would recommend it to a beginner-intermediate or pro level rider.

The Evo is the Epic

If you want a bike that can handle long distance endurance, climb like a champ and ride flats almost like a hardtail and still get rowdy on the downs this is the bike So far took this on a 45 mile with 7500 feet climb ride, planning a 70 mile ride with over 10,000 climb, looking fwd to it! I wanted a Pro model but so difficult to find so made it into a Pro by upgrading too … Race Face Turbine stem Race Face Next R carbon bar, 800mm 20 rise, 35mm XTR clipless pedals Specialized Carbon wheels Roval 29mm XD / 6B (29er) with DT Swiss 350 hubs Rock Shox Ultimate fork 35mm stanchions Rock Shox Ultimate Rear Shox Complete Eagle XO1 Drive Train (Carbon cranks (175mm) with 32 chain ring, 10-52 Eagle Cassette, Shifter, Chain, Rear Derailleur) Chris King Red Head set Chris King Red Bottom bracket Wolf tooth Red dropper lever Magura M7C HC3 brakes (with Shimano XTR 200mm front rotor and 180mm rear) Santa Cruz Fillmore tire valves (RED abodized cap) Rev-grips / RED anodized

Nothing but problems

Purchased my Epic EVO early summer 2023, this bike has spent more time in the shop than on the trail. After every ride I have to return to the bike to the shop to have something fixed/checked. First was a fork failure. Since then I've had adjustments and readjustments, and a tire replacement. Still trying to identify the latest issue, must likely a rear bearings issue; the local shop is troubleshooting problem. I know I am one of the few who has had problems like this; I really want to love this bike, but all I see is a bike with issues that I am stuck with. Otherwise, it is a fun, fast ride, and looks great on the wall, but if given opportunity I'd pick a different brand/bike. I see this as a lack of quality control on Specialized part, I believe if the bike had been inspected before being packaged and shipped out, I wouldn't be in this mess. I'm sure once everything is fixed, I'll enjoy it, there is always next year.

It's an Epic riding experience

I absolutely love this bike. It handles xc trails with ease. It climbs great. I switched to Absolute Black oval chainring and it climbs even better. The tires are decent in dry conditions but I'm not too confident with them on wet rocks/roots. I would buy this bike again and again. No regrets.

Best Bike Ever!!

I am a hardcore trail ripper and xc racer, I needed some thing that was light and fast but not a dedicated xc bike (so I can go in the fun stuff) This bike does everything and does it well too!!

Even better

As a follow up to my previous review, I have had the Evo two months now and it is settling in, with the suspension getting smoother and I have found the optimum tyre pressures now. I am loving this bike. I made the right choice as it is perfect for uk single track and trails.

Great XC or Trail bike

Being a mountain biker for 30 years I wanted something light, simple and that could ride the local terrain at speed and the Epic Evo Comp delivers. Great suspension kinematic performance and it is a very stable bike. I’m swapping the 2.4 tyres for 2.2 Fasttrack tyres to enable it to be even more agile, but that’s a personal preference. I’d also prefer a 2 x 11 drivetrain, but the 1 x 12 is reliable and dependable. What else is good? It looks superb, and the Specialised warranty is very reassuring as it shows the confidence they have. Great fun, and my new go-to bike.

Great Bike, Rides like an epic.

This bike is a good value for a trail rider or cross country rider. You're getting a light bike with short-ish travel and a decent wheelset. The wheels are very heavy, but if you were to buy the nicest set on the market, it would be possible to make this bike sub 20lbs with stock parts-- it's that good. Can't recommend these tires for anyone looking to race xc, but they work and they are great for a trail rider. Switching to Maxxis ikon. I've been riding this bike for three months and I'm very happy with my choice. I race techy xc trails in southern utah.

Best value ever

This is the best bike for the money, the spec is perfect, and the geo sounds progressive but it works. I will never have to buy a bike again. This and the demo are some of the best bikes ever.

Fast and light downcountry ripper

Picked this up as I wanted something that was fast and light to complement my Stumpjumper Evo (also an amazing bike). Luckily, got my hands on one of these and it's fully met or exceeded expectations, which were high in the first place based on the critical acclaim it has received. So fun and snappy to accelerate, but composed on the descents - the SiD is an amazing fork so a lot of credit goes to Rockshox. I'm in CO so it's definitely not the 'one bike' for here, but could definitely be in a lot of places where you're not looking at sustained technical descents frequently, this is definitely the bike I'm looking to pull out of the garage most of the time. A carbon wheelset and bars are the only upgrades I've made so far, everything has been great. Specialized has been killing it lately pretty much across their catalog, pick up one of these if you can get one.

Great Bike!

Picked up my new 2022 Epic EVO Comp in the raw carbon last week. I have about 100 miles on it, and love this bike more each time I ride. I came from a Fuse Comp Carbon and had been riding hard tails for the last 15 years. I am really enjoying having a FS bike. I find the bike to climb really well and same on descents. I have pretty much ridden typical XC terrain so far but have not hit some of my local trails that are much steeper and more tech. All things I've ridden for years on hardtail, so I look forward to seeing how the EVO does in that terrain, but I suspect it will be great. Looking forward to some 6 and 12 hour events I have coming up - highly recommend this bike.

Loving it so far

Picked up a new Epic Evo Comp in Sage Green about a month ago. So far I am loving it. Coming from a regular epic this bike keeps the race feel and can climb like a pro but allows a more aggressive approach to the downs. So far, so good. Can't wait for the end of winter to really test it out.
