The Comeback Queen

Anna’s breakthrough came in 2015 when she won the Giro d'Italia Femminile, signaling the start of her rise to the pinnacle of women’s cycling. Her palmarès is phenomenal—so much so that it’s easier to list the races she hasn’t won.

A multiple-time world champion, four-time Giro d’Italia winner, and Olympic gold medalist, Anna is also one of the most dominant athletes in the Ardennes Classics, having claimed La Flèche Wallonne seven years in a row.

After retiring at the end of the 2021 season, Anna stayed with Team SD Worx – Protime, transitioning into a directeur sportif role. In a surprising and thrilling turn, she announced her return to professional racing for the 2025 season with the same team.

Her comeback couldn’t have been more impressive. Early in the season, Anna claimed a stage victory at La Vuelta España Femenina, proving she’s still as tough and determined as ever. She capped off the race with a strong third-place finish overall, marking a triumphant return to top-level competition. She continued strong throughout the rest of the season with a silver in the time trial at the 2025 UCI world championships and bronze at the European championships at the end of the season. A comeback to be proud of.
