2020 Pathfinder Sport

Born in the American Midwest, gravel riding is one of the fastest growing styles of cycling. The sense of adventure, conquering new challenges, and simply experiencing a new style of riding are some of its big selling points, but doing so without the proper tires makes the difference between having fun and cursing and hollering on the side of the road. The Pathfinder Sport delivers versatility not just for adventure-laden rides but as balanced active tire too, fast rolling, lots of grip, and a whole lot of fun.

More of a road tire than gravel tire but good on light gravel and sand

Measures 35mm or about 1.3". Nice soft feel like tires do without the belt. I weigh 175 and run 40psi and they're hard but still soft riding. Not a heavy thick wall so keep to the road and bike paths. I believe this is Specialized version on the Gravel king with a wire bead. I like this tire.

Great for road and gravel

This is the first pair of gravel tires I bought from specialized and I’m impressed! They roll great on pavement and have the side tread for hard packed and gravel.

I got them at 30%

I got them at 30% off. Haven’t used them yet, but I do have a set on my sirrus X4.0 and they’re great. So when they wear out I will switch them.

Double message, but a step in the right direction

This tire is billed for gravel, and seems eminently suited for it. I am concerned, though, that when you buy the tire, on the label (in five languages no less) is the note: "Recommended use: Paved Use". The tire is either intended for paved use, in which case label it as such on the web site and in descriptions. Or it's intended for gravel and multiple surfaces. In which case, delete the cowardly disclaimer. Don't try and have it both ways. Stop letting lawyers write your usage recommendations. As far as performance goes, I haven't seen a better multi-use tread than the Pathfinder since the old Kenda K835, which was primarily an OEM tire that is now vanishingly rare and was unfortunately never made in 700c. Happy with my Pathfinders, though I wish the gravel diamonds were more agressive.

Good tire, bad flats

Tire is good in terms of grip and feel while riding, but I seem to get flats nearly every 1-3 rides while commuting only 6 miles total on paved surfaces.
