2018 RBX drirelease® Merino Jersey

Nothing quite inspires the romantic sentiment of road cycling like Merino wool, but until now, it hasn't really been renowned for its performance benefits. And when we say "until now," we're really just talking about our RBX drirelease® Merino Jersey.

So what are the benefits? How about a natural ability to combat odor and microbial buildup, all while managing & evaporating moisture like nobody's business? Yes, Merino does all of this without the bat of an eyelash. Our drirelease® Merino, however, combines the natural hydrophilic (water-loving) wool fibers with a blend of hydrophobic (water-hating) synthetic fibers to push away and evaporate sweat at an even faster rate. On top of this, the blend enhances the already soft feel of the wool, ensuring that this will be one of the most comfortable jerseys in your closet.

Keeping with this theme of comfort, we gave the RBX a fit that teeters somewhere between race and classic, so it'll move with the body without a constrictive feel. And lastly, you'll find that it has all the features you need for daily riding, like three rear expansion pockets and a full-length front zipper.

Smells terrible

I'll start with the good. I like the pockets - 3 standard rear pockets with an additional zippered pocket for valuables over the middle one and a fifth zippered chest pocket is a really nice setup for long days. The fit is so-so. It's not supposed to be an aero jersey, but it definitely has the wavy effect along the front zipper. I have a small and I'm 5'8"" and 145lbs. Without a doubt, the main drawback for me is the smell of the jersey once I start to sweat. Honestly, it reminds me of a baby's dirty diaper. I have other wool jerseys and polyester jerseys that are totally fine, so perhaps it is something in the drirelease blend. Whatever the case may be, it's truly offensive to the noise shortly after starting a workout to the point where I can't wear this jersey.

Spot on!

Previously owned the long sleeve version of this jersey & loved it so was happy to get my hands on the short sleeve jersey ready for the spring/summer bikepacking adventures! Was even happier to select the 'no rush' post option & have it turn up the very next day. Great work Specialized!

Fit and color

It's a good jersey... not great. To echo other reviews... yes the red is actually more pink... I sent mine back also. This jersey is strange for a size large... not sure why but all specialized jerseys are a little short in the trunk... maybe 1-2"" (I too am 6'0"" 195lbs). I get it the fit is for aero performance... but you can't go fast if you aren't comfortable...and I'd wager 99% of your clientele are not built like professional cyclists. The pink, and lack of zipper pocket in back are why this is a 3 star jersey. Borderline 2 stars with all the Specialized logos missing... not very ""pro"" looking... actually pretty plain.

Where's My Logo

I have worn the shirt three times now on cycle rides, and it is extremely comfortable, fits me perfectly and has a real feel good feeling to it. I have two Specialized bikes and was extremely disappointed to find there was no logo on the right shoulder of my shirt as shown on the advertised shirt. [An explanation for this oversight would not go amiss as I'm sure you would like people to know I am wearing your product]. Another quite significant problem, the zip is extremely fiddly and not up to the standard required for a shirt of this price. This is why it only received 4 stars. It is still a fine shirt though and I certainly will recommend it
