Nothing is faster than the Tarmac SL8 thanks to a combination of aerodynamics, lightweight, and ride quality previously thought impossible. After eight generations and over two decades of development, it’s more than the fastest Tarmac ever. It’s the world’s fastest race bike-made even faster with the aero paradigm shifting performance of the all-new Roval Rapide CLX III wheels.

Aerodynamics or lightweight alone don’t win races - speed is what matters. Delivering that speed requires creating an uncompromising combination of aerodynamics, lightweight, stiffness, and compliance. Through race simulations using real world data our Ride Science team knows the Tarmac SL8 is the fastest race bike ever made on the routes that matter - 16.6 seconds faster over 40km, 128 seconds faster over Milan San Remo, 20 seconds faster over the legendary Tourmalet climb.

Now, the fastest race bike in the world meets SRAM RED AXS groupset with power meter - the lightest electronic groupset ever. All S-Works Tarmac SL8 models ship with a Roval Rapide cockpit to save weight and for the fastest possible leading edge.

  • AERO IN EVERYTHING: We’re putting aero where it matters - the leading edge - not just where it looks good. In the process we’ve created our most aerodynamic road bike ever. Yes, it’s more aero than the Venge. Clean air is optimized for maximum advantage with the Tarmac’s new nose cone - the Speed Sniffer. By moving the steer tube back - the tube that determines head tube width - the leading edge of the head tube can be much sharper, delivering a much lower drag shape. Utilizing new UCI rules, the Tarmac SL8 has the narrowest, most aero seat post we’ve ever made ensuring fast moving, dirty air around the legs can flow back more cleanly. Doesn’t victory smell sweet?

  • MINIMUM WEIGHT, MAXIMUM AERO: Tarmac SL8 took learnings from Aethos to be easily built at the UCI minimum with a full aero set up. The team delivered a mind bending, scale tickling 685 gram frame - 15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than anything on else on the World Tour*. With the ability to make lightweight a top priority in the down tube, seat tube, and rear of the bike lessons from Aethos were applied. The frame’s shape carries load so efficiently that extra carbon stiffness layers become redundant. *Unless of course you count the time Kasper Asgreen raced our 585 gram Aethos frame during a Tour stage.

  • GOES LIKE HELL, RIDES LIKE HEAVEN: With massive gains in stiffness-to-weight - an improvement of 33% over the SL7 - the Tarmac SL8 takes legendary handling, aggressive responsiveness and World Championship proven geometry to the next level. The bike is stiffer at the pedals, more precise at the bars, and combines it with a compliant ride in the saddle that sets a new benchmark for race bike comfort. Thanks to our Rider-First Engineering, every rider, regardless of size, gets the same unprecedented ride quality and handling. In the saddle the Tarmac SL8 delivers 6% more compliance, floating over rough road with a supple feel unique in the high strung world of race bikes. Tarmac’s proven geometry and 32mm tire clearance are identical to the SL7, ensuring easy adaptation and the versatility to run higher volume tires when needed.

  • BEYOND GENDER: There can be more difference between two male cyclists than between a male and female. Gender alone doesn’t provide nearly enough data to specialize and that means creating male or female bikes is arbitrary and outdated. Every rider can get the next level advantage of Tarmac SL8. It’s time to go Beyond Gender.

  • S-Works Tarmac SL8 is spec’d with only the best components. A full SRAM RED AXS groupset with power meter - the lightest electronic groupset ever - and a Roval Rapide CLX III tubeless-ready wheelset are the perfect complement to the world’s fastest frame. All S-Works Tarmac SL8 models ship with a Roval Rapide cockpit to save weight and for the fastest possible leading edge.

Very light and fast. A

Very light and fast. A bit squirrely in a cross wind but maybe my skills need improvement. Additional frame colors would be a bonus. Highly recommended

Fastest Bike

The S works Tarmac is smooth, accelerates fast and rolls past every other bike. They are expensive but worth it.

It really ROLLS!

Having the exact same bike with Rapide CLX II and now riding this, feels absolutely awesome. I take it as a pinch of salt about speed holding but I literally achieved better PR using the Tarmac SL8 with Rapide CLX III Don't fade Specialized

Smoother and faster / Quicker with more precise shifting/ Nicely integrated computer

Just upgraded from my Specialized S-Works Venge VIAS (Peter Sagan LTD) to my new S-Works Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe SL8. It's faster and smoother with wider tires and lower tire pressures then my Venge. Stiff on the climbs and yet compliant over the rougher stuff. I don't always have to be at "race pace" in order to take advantage of this frame's capabilities. Everything I thought it would be and more (especially the look). Worth every penny if you are on your bike most days of the week!

Wow

I own a 2023 S-works Roubaix, and 2023 S-Works Aethos and a 2024 S-Works SL8 Tarmac. I did not buy the Tarmac right away because I am 62 years old, and I have a bad left shoulder and was concerned that I would be uncomfortable in the riding position. I am in good shape for my age and exercise in Palates twice a week, but at 62 the Tarmac is the most enjoyable bike I have ever ridden. It is quick, perky, and fast. No one is going to try to sponsor me for the next Tour De France, but the fastest 62-year-old me I can be is on this bike. Further, much younger people are saying "what the **** was that that just flew by me?" I have ridden this bike about 100 miles now and every time I ride it I kind of have a smile on my face.

Plush ride, Fast, Precision shifting, well designed machine

This is one smooth bike to ride in the mountains or the flat terrain. The new SRAM Red makes for faster riding due to the quick shifting that it provides with an excellent drive train. Great disc brakes that worked well on Teton Pass at 55 mph. The new S-works seat makes for great leverage on the pedals and a aero seat post as well. The Cockpit Roval handle bars are sleek and aero as well as the SRAM Red hoods that can be shifted up high on the hoods. The Frame is aero stiff and supple and the paint job is the best I've seen beautiful!! The Roval wheels are awesome with 28 width tires. Well done Specialized!!

amazing ride

I've been riding, racing, touring and primarily car-free since 1986. Started out with a cheap steel Fuji, toeclips, downtube shifters and a USAC license. When I say I have ridden everything and anything, I do mean everything; from my dumpster spec fixie courier bike and a single ring crit bike I built from spare parts in 1994, to a custom Super Record Colnago and my current gen Epic. The S-Works SL8 is by far the best bike I have ever thrown a leg over. The new SRAM Red group is seamless. I can't find anything to fault, even the color is stunning. Only thing I might tweak is to recommend Spesh spec 28mm tires instead of 26, just to follow current norms and fit the rims a bit smoother. Absolutely brilliant performer up and down the mountain roads here in Colorado.

Faster, better, and simply awesome!

Around 150g lighter compared to the previous SRAM RED making the ride alot more lighter, faster, responsive and ergonomically comfortable! 10-28T Cogs will be lighter for sure. Very suitable for ladies due to the improved hoods. Simply love it! Thank you Specialized!

aerodynamic, extremely lightweight and amazingly maneuverable

I've owned both the Trek Madone SLR 9 and the Cannondale Hi-Mo Super-six. But I found this S-Works tarmac sl8 to be far more amazing than both bikes I owned. She is more aerodynamic, extremely lightweight and amazingly maneuverable. In short, she is worth every penny and will certainly exceed your expectations. Highly recommended!
