Turbo Kenevo Expert

2019 Turbo Kenevo Expert

Let's be real. Big descents are why we all ride mountain bikes, but climbing back up on a big-travel trail bike? That's a different kind of "tingly feeling," and hell, probably the reason why shuttling is even a thing. And while we're all for getting a hard workout in, it's nice to have some extra power when you need it, and there's only one bike that allows you to do that without sacrificing travel—the Turbo Kenevo Expert.

With the Turbo Kenevo, you get all of the hallmarks that our trail bikes are known for—a roomy top tube for an easy fit and better control, ultra-short chainstays for nimble handling, and a low bottom bracket that makes the bike feel glued to the trail. But then you top it all off with 180 millimeters of front and rear travel, and you get a bike that's ready to send it off of anything.

Then comes an M5 aluminum frame and our hyper efficient and powerful Specialized e-MTB technology—integrating a battery and a motor that delivers 15% more power than the older versions. This also delivers a 10% increase in efficiency, while our exclusive Rx Trail Tune at the motor smoothly and quietly brings this additional power to the pedals, making climbing the steepest of trails nearly effortless. Of course, the output is fully adjustable to conserve energy, as well, while the custom motor is also the only one on the market that features instant pedal engagement and consistent torque throughout the entire cadence range.

At the battery, you'll find that it's fully integrated with the down tube and easily removable for quick charging or swaps. It has a lengthy lifespan for hitting long, out of the way trails and, along with the motor, it's strategically placed for optimal weight distribution. You'll also find our Mission Control App for full control of the Turbo technology, an integrated Trail Display with all of the ride metrics you need, a Trail Remote that lets you easily switch between modes without removing your hands from the bars, and a power meter that shows exactly how much power you're putting out vs. the motor.

The Turbo Kenevo Expert features a build spec that leaves nothing to be desired, with an Öhlins TTX22M coil shock, a RockShox Lyrik fork, SRAM's GX one-by groupset, and hand-built Roval alloy 27.5 wheels.

Absolutely love this bike!

I bought this bike after it was used as a rental for a year in Squamish, BC. It's been a great bike and I've been riding it for 15 months (2019 Model). A couple quirks with the bike. About 6 months after owning the bike the Ohlin rear spring's yellow finish cracked and looked like 60% yellow and 40 % rust coming thru the cracks. The bike has a 2 year warranty from the time I bought it, so it will be 3 years old when the bike is out of warranty. Even though it was a rental for a year it came with a full 2 year warranty. I took the bike in after riding it for about 6 months withs a couple issues...one the Ohlin rear spring looked ugly, two the mode button lost the rubber cover and I couldn't change modes with it, three the front forks were leaking. With the mode shift up/down switch not working, I had to stop bend down to the left and change the mode with the buttons on the frame. The company replaced the mode switch and cable and the ohlin spring on the rear shock. They did not pay for the front shock service (new seals) as they said thats an annual maintenance thing. The only other oddity, the rear axle has backed out on me three times, once destroying the rear cassette ratchet mechanism...not sur the name. I suggest you do a pre ride check to make sure the axel has not backed out. The bike is a bit heavy but not a concern for me as I ride dirt bikes. An oddity, when you are cranking it hard uphill and you slide out causing you to stop, sometimes the motor continues to propel the bike up hill event though you stopped. This is not a big deal as you adjust quickly to it. You don't notice the weight when you are riding, unless you are having to push it up hill. Buy this bike, you will love it!!

Changed the sport

This bike is the total package. Suspension is one of the best I've had the pleasure of riding. Vet of 30 yrs of riding all mountain, DH and MX and this bike is like nothing else I've ridden. Solid, quiet, balanced, nimble, and powerful. You can ride with non e-bike riders in Eco or head out with an all e-bike crew for a blitz in Trail and Turbo and get an amazing workout because you are sprinting the whole time. Climbs become something to look forward to, and choppy tech lines barely possible with a standard bike become routine. This bike increases the fun factor by 10X.. Beautiful lines as well, thank you Specialized, I'm in love.

Outstanding E-bike!

Have owned the Kenevo for 10 months, no regrets as this is a solid bike for all conditions and terrain. Yes, it is a high end bike and worth the money.

Riding like I'm 20 again

You can't get the whole picture in the parking lot. Take it for a proper XC ride and you'll be blown away. You can run it on ECO and get nearly the same workout as a normal bike, just go farther and a little faster. It makes after work rides less of a decision. If you have time, you go.

Yes, love this bike.

Have ridden it for almost 12 months; I do a nice mix of XC and All mountain. I have a demo 8 for DH, but my Kenevo allows me to do multiple runs on jumplines that I would otherwise have done only once. It's like having your own personal shuttle. I'm 67 yrs old and I have done up to 30' jumps with it and it handles them easily. I have several jumplines on my property and I typically do them at least 3 times every ride.

Puts the fun back in Mountain Biking

Riding for over 30 years. Have owned several Specialized bikes. Coming off my Enduro, I bought my Kenevo and I can honestly say my riding has improved and the pure fun and joy is off the hook. Solid purchase. The Kenevo is confidence inspiring, planted and keeps me motivated even when I'm not at peak fitness. If you ride an EBike you'll buy it. Enough said.
