Pathfinder TLR Fast Gravel Tire

Perhaps slightly less durable, but definitely faster rolling than Pathfinder pros. The other reviewers saying Pathfinder pros are faster must be insane

Tried these because the Pathfinder Pros were out of stock. This has been the least durable tire, of anything, I have ever owned. The 60tpi really sets these things back. I would highly suggest skipping these unless you are riding on very clean and smooth roads. Please write you senators to complain about the Pros seemingly going out of production, it is a crime.

Had the S-works Pathfinders previously (which sadly seem to be discontinued) purchased these as replacements in widest 45mm sizing. As others have said, they do not measure true, they are slightly narrow and fit more like a 40-42, depending on internal width of rim. The rubber compound and tread pattern are great, grippy, and transition nicely towards the shoulders. Compared to the S-works, the treading is more pronounced, aiding in grip, however increasing weight. Overall - great tires.

Being a tire junkie, I always seem to be switching tires around. Specialized tires have always been so easy, where I’ve struggled with other tires on the same wheel. The tread is slightly different from the outgoing tire, as is the color, logo, etc. Mine measured 40c (as advertised) on rival Terras. I guess it’s from a different factory. Not sure how fast these are going to be but since the last version always felt sluggish on the road, I have hope for this update.

As others have noted, these are running undersized and line up with one size down in previous Pathfinders. The new 700x40s measure a hair under 38mm on 21mm inside-width rims: exactly the same as previous-generation 700x38 Pathfinders on the same wheelset. For comparison, the otherwise very similar and very fast Hutchinson Caracals 700x40s measure just under 43mm.

very grippy and the center smooth tread improves the rolling and noise on paths / smooth roads than the stock Tracer. The 40mm are actually 38mm. I have a Diverge that came with 42mm (which actually are 44mm) and I was expecting to go 2mm narrower, so now I'm riding 6mm smaller overall, but that should be ok for the roads I often ride. Order larger than you want for better accuracy!

I rode previous generation pathfinders PRO for years- they were heavy and very slow. Later updated S Works 42 t2/t5 version was spot on weight wise, very rapid accelerations. Now i tried this new generation and it blows old PROS out of the water! There is night/day difference in speed, weight and grip. 45C tan wall mesures 42. 5mm on 19ID rims, so very true to the size. My two tires was about 490g each, that is almost 100g lighter from old PROs, but still not in the range of 430g S Works 42c t2/t5. So in the end of the day, specialized we need updated lighter s works option, not everybody need extrem protection, many people inc. me ride light/aero/smooth gravel. High recommended!

I am a fan of the Pathfinder tires. I have been riding them for years without complaint. They are fast on hard pack and grippy enough for the lose stuff. All around great gravel tire. I was lured into buying the new 45mm TLR tires precisely because they are bigger than the 42mm S-Works Pathfinders I currently run. Wider is better, right? Wider is all the rage. Sadly, these new "wider tires" are precisely the same width as my old ones. Still a great tire, but they are mis-labeled. They are actually 42mm, not the advertised 45mm.
