This tire seems to strike the perfect balance between weight and durability. I'm rolling on the 700x23 version, which is only 15 measly grams heavier than the 700x25 Espoir Elite tire I used before, but which gives me a ton more confidence when it comes to rough roads and road debris. Basically, the weight penalty over the Espoir is nil, but this tire seems much tougher. Another noteworthy difference between the Espoir and the Armadillo Elite is that while I found the Espoir to be more ""plush"" feeling, it never felt trustworthy in hard corners. The Armadillo Elite, on the other hand, has a slightly harsher ride due to its tough construction, but it also feels like it ""hooks up"" better in corners. Not sure if that's due to profile or rubber compound or what, but I dig it! Overall, if the standard All Condition Armadillo is overkill for your riding environment, but you want something tougher than the Espoir, I think the All Condition Armadillo Elite is a great option. Great tire, Big S!
