Rockhopper Expert 29

Rockhopper Expert 29

Excuse the brag, but we’ve really outdone ourselves here. Proving that true trail-taming capability doesn’t have to come at an intimidating price, the Rockhopper Expert is the culmination of 30 years of redefining the relationship between value and performance.

Start with a painstakingly engineered Premium A1 Aluminum frame, add in modern geometry that keeps one eye on efficiency and the other on confident capability and you have the rock-solid foundation of our best Rockhopper yet.

Pair that with a parts list that just doesn’t quit (...can we get a shoutout for RockShox’s Judy SoloAir fork and SRAM’s always-in-charge Level hydraulic disc brakes?) and you have a tubeless-ready, SRAM Eagle 1x12-equipped Rockhopper that’s absolutely prepared to fly.

Expert 29'er - a good choice for non technical riding

Good spec with SRAM but lacks a solid axle that you might find in this price range that would give you more upgrade options. Judy fork is fine for my riding on canals and largely smooth tracks. Can see that fork being a limiting factor for serious MTB work. But at around £900 this is an excellent machine. Good dealer back up and service.

So much fun!

Delighted with this bike. Can't wait for my next outing - got a smile on my face just thinking about it! My only quibble would be the top gear being slightly more powerful for flat/downhill tarmac, but that's not really where this bike belongs, so stand by my 5 star rating.

Surprisingly good

The Rockhopper Expert turned out to be a quality hardtail, components are of decent spec and geometry feels great. Perhaps the fork could be plusher, but overall bang for buck is excellent.
