Men's Stumpjumper Comp Alloy 27.5

2018 Men's Stumpjumper Comp Alloy 27.5

No need to fret—we haven't forgotten about all you alloy fans out there. In fact, the new Stumpjumper Comp Alloy 27.5 may be the most radically designed alloy bike ever made. For real, though. And with new tube shapes, an asymmetrical design, and the nimble 27.5 handling that we all love, it's plenty capable and ready to take on the trail.

Our design goal for the new Stumpjumper was simple—build the ultimate trail bike, one that feels telepathic. And it turns out that this feeling all comes down to stiffness. Think of it this way: when the frame's telling your hands one thing and your feet another, your brain gets confused with the imbalance and the bike feels unstable. In order to fix this, we had to get to work on dialing-in the materials and shapes.

We continued down the suspension path with a custom Rx Trail Tune on both the fork and rear shock. Suspension performance is highly dependent on frame, wheel, and rider size, so we use our Rx Tune to get each bike to land in the middle of the adjustment spectrum, and this gives you the biggest possible range to fine-tune your ride. Another focal point of the tune was matching the suspension characteristics between wheel sizes—we developed a specific Rx Tune for each platform. So, no matter what wheel size you prefer, you'll get perfectly linear suspension.

Steps were also taken to make this bike easy to live with. Threaded bottom brackets make a triumphant return, and we made room for up to a 2.8" tire. You're also free to run whatever aftermarket rear shock you want, since we're using standard metric shocks. And customization is furthered with a Flip Chip that lets you to dial-in your Stumpy to your riding style. Switch it from High to Low and it drops your bottom bracket 6mm and slackens the head tube by half-a-degree. Little details also jump out to surprise you, like a newly designed ribbed chainstay protector that makes chain slap a thing of the past and nearly silences the drivetrain.

The build here is no-nonsense with a focus on dependable, high-performing parts, like a Shimano SLX drivetrain with RaceFace cranks, Shimano SLX disc brakes, FOX front and rear suspension, and Roval Traverse 27.5 alloy wheels.

STUNNING ALL AROUND BEAST!

This bike is an absolute all around performance machine. It pedals well up hill and rides smooth downhill. I have a Men's M 27.5 alloy and it absolutely dominates anything I throw at it. From Moab to Jackson Hole this bike can handle it all. It's nimble, playful, has enough travel to take on large obstacles, and big drops. Don't let the weight watchers scare you out of the alloy frame either! This thing pedals uphill just fine, is super snappy on turns, and on the downhills and single tracks you can throw this bad boy around with ease. You ride the bike the bike doesn't ride you! The 2.6 wheels are a game changer when it comes to cornering and rocks. (go tubeless) I'm stoked with this bike and recommend it to anyone looking for an all arounder that out performs its price. Would buy over and over again but I only need one!

PERFECT BIKE

I went from a Scott full carbon dual suspension XC to the new Stumpjumper Comp Alloy and all I have to say is AMAZING. The perfect way to describe my first ride compared to my Scott was like comparing a Ford Raptor to a to a car off-road. This big is great and and very comfortable going down hill and up hill. I was going for the basic Stumpjumper but after comparing it with the comp alloy it was definitely worth the money. If you like down hill technical trails this is the bike for you. I recommend this bike over any other bike out there.

I can't say enough good things about my new Stumpjumper!

I'm 41 and just getting back into the sport after a 13 year hiatus. I couldn't be happier with my new Stumpjumper. Acid Mint is STUNNING in the flesh, so after racing to my local dealer to see one before it went to its new owner, I went back the next day to order a medium, 27.5 Comp Alloy. What an amazing bike. It's super stiff, corners like a sport bike and likes to be tossed around. It's such an enjoyable bike to ride and it makes me want to KEEP riding even after I've run out of gas. I could go on and on but just buy one. You won't regret it. I haven't been able to wipe the smile off my face since bringing mine home!

Great ride! Nice work big red S!

This bike is a multi tool. Im running it on xc, free ride, slalom and jump lines. I can dial the suspension on the trail for what I need. Spent a full day running through all the settings and got it wired up. 150mm travel is just enough but not too much. Perfect trail bike.

So much to like

Had my 1st ride today after not owning a full suspension bike for 4 years. What a bike pedals really well and flatters the rider. Planning my next adventure already
