When ripping down the trail, the last thing you need to worry about is if your helmet will protect you in a crash. Then again, you don't want to be stuck wearing a full-face on every trail ride. This is why we created the Ambush, the lightest and most ventilated extended coverage helmet available.

Starting with protection, the Ambush boasts a significant amount of extended coverage, Energy Optimized Multi-Density EPS foam that manages the energy from impacts effectively, and a Aramid-Reinforced Skeleton that provides extra structure for the foam. Even with the added protection, though, it fits comfortably with our low profile and fully integrated Mindset 360 fit system. With its five height positions, this system provides unmatched adjustment, while an integrated dial allows for on-the-fly tinkering. The Ambush also keeps you cool with our 4th Dimension Cooling System's massive vents and exhaust ports, so you don't have to worry about overheating—even on the hottest days.

Finally, we included a micro-indexing visor that quickly adjusts positions and has plenty of room for goggle storage. Combined, these features put the Ambush well in front of the competition.

  • Patented Energy Optimized Multi-Density EPS construction helps to manage impact energy.
  • Mindset 360 fit system provides a secure, customizable fit with 360-degree tension adjustment, five height positions, and an integrated dial for easy, on-the-fly adjustments.
  • Micro indexing visor allows for a wide range of fast, secure on-trail adjustments, as well as convenient goggle stowage.
  • 4th Dimension Cooling System with massive vents, internal Cross-Channels, and aligned exhaust ports increases airflow to keep you cool.
  • Low profile in-molded shell with smooth, snag-free exterior shape.
  • Extended coverage for added protection and durability.
  • Lightweight, quick-drying liner features a Gutter Action Brow that channels moisture away from eyes.
  • Tri-Fix web splitter for improved comfort and ease of strap adjustments.

Great helmet with lack of strap adjustment

I really miss being able to adjust the straps behind and in front of the ear individually. The helmet sits very low on my forehead because I can't shorten up the strap behind the ear, which means that it tilts forward

Would buy it again

It has extended coverage in the back which protects my head so much better😊 and it's so light I forget I have it on!

Style and Function!

The Ambush has the best of both worlds. It's super light, well ventilated, looks rad, and it fits comfortably while providing protection where it's needed most. Noticeably lighter than other helmets i've had in the past. The adjustable tension works flawless too. I'm really happy with the my Ambush, and always recommend it to other riders looking for a better helmet!

Simply the Best

I have had a handful of helmets over the years and this is by far my favorite. The chin strap is easily adjusted and always unobtrusive, the eyebrow pad does a good job of diverting sweat away from your eyes, the retention system secures the helmet well, even with a light or camera weighing it down. The Ambush vents so well and is so lightweight that you can forget you're wearing it...until it does its job! I have had two so far (the first one saved my noggin) and my next helmet will be an Ambush as well. It is my first choice for any of my friends or family looking for a helmet.

This Helmet Saved Me !!!!!

I crashed this past Sunday 4/29/2018 in Sedona, came off a jump on the trail and wasn't able to stop in time to clear an obstacle up ahead, went over the handlebars and hit directly into a rock on an angle - head first. The ER doc said if it wasn't for the helmet, shes not sure if I would be here right now. Thank you Specialized for making a well made helmet.......

Saved my noggin'

Crashed this weekend after hitting a deer in the dark hours of my early morning ride. The deer jumped out in front of me at the last minute on a straight downhill section and there was nothing I could do to avoid it. Strava shows I was going about 27 mph. I distinctly remember hitting the back of my head hard as I landed on my back and skidded to a stop. I had roadrash up my back, whiplash and plenty of other bumps and bruises, but my head didn't have a scratch or tender spot on it. The Specialized Ambush helmet I bought 6 months ago did its job! The helmet skin is dented and scratched, the foam is cracked, but it held together and absorbed the impact perfectly. I hate to think of what could have happened if it hadn't.
