Roubaix Comp

2018 Roubaix Comp

When you're rolling smoother, you're rolling faster. And regardless of if you're on the cobbles of Northern France or the chip and seal of your hometown, you'll benefit immensely from the Roubaix Comp.

The super-light frame has been constructed from our FACT 10r carbon fibre. Its stiffness levels are also off the charts, and compared to the SL4 iteration of yesteryear, you'll experience a whole new, faster, and more efficient geometry. Through some engineering sorcery, however, we've managed to keep the same fit, feel, and position that we've all come to love from the SL4, and kept it consistent throughout the size-range due to our Rider-First Engineered™ construction.

Of course, you're probably thinking, "get on to the suspension thing up front." We call it Future Shock, and essentially, it's a piston in the head tube with 20mm of travel. We developed this technology in partnership with McLaren Applied Technologies, and the result of this are a host of drastic performance improvements, namely in the vertical compliance department. Without giving a physics lecture, we found that focusing on vertical compliance, instead of fork splay, meant that we could improve smoothness, speed, and comfort in one fell swoop. And of all the bikes that we've tested with our Rolling Efficiency Model, the new Roubaix outperforms anything on the market.

Lastly, we spec'd it with awesome components, like Ultegra 8000 11-speed mechanical shifting, 8020 hydraulic disc brakes, and ultra-tough Roval SLX 24 wheels that have been cased in our Turbo Pro 28mm tires.

Perfect all rounder

Great bike, the finishing touches should you wish to add on that really compliment the bike and give for a better ride are, a ultegra main crank, and some deep carbon wheels, I can only describe it as faultless, if your looking for a long ride over mixed terrain this is the benchmark for the money 👍

smooth and fast

Two years on this bike with close to 4000 miles and have to say it is easily the most comfortable and smoothest riding bike I have ever ridden. This bike is also quite fast and handles extremely well. It tracks well and is very stable on descents. Great all around bike.

Roubaix is awesome.

This Roubaix is fast and smooth. The bike runs the best over 25mph. It soaks up the bumps and road imperfections to deliver a world class ride.

Couldn't be happier.

I just got the bike not to long ago. Only have 2 rides on that equal a little over 100 miles. Very fast and climbs hills great. Very comfortable ride.

Couldn't be happier with this bike

I recently purchased this as my first foray into road biking. Prior to this, i was riding a walmart hybrid, so this is a substantial upgrade. I have a few hundred miles so far, and am loving it more and more. I test rode at least 10 bikes, and this is by far the one I was most comfortable on. After having it fit, I went on a 40 mile shakedown ride and had zero complaints. The hydro discs are nothing short of incredible, and ultimately make me feel safer. The future shock does smooth out chatter rather well. I had really maxed out my speed and distance on my old hybrid, and on this bike I feel that I am much more able.

Great bike!

I upgraded from an Allez Sport because I wanted a more comfortable ride for my 59 year-old frame and a bike that might be a little quicker. The Roubaix Comp soaked up the bumps in the road and my average speed on my usual 19 mile route improved by 1.4 MPH on my first ride. I couldn't be happier with my choice.

I think it's faster than my old racing frame

Which was by all accounts a very old frame. Best upgrade ever. Would do it again. The pogo stick in the head tube seems like a gimmick, but its very nice. It [bold]HAS NOT[/bold] slowed me down, and i think it makes me faster. A little surprise offroading can happen, and it handled it just fine. Very competent in the urban environment. Handles potholes, curbs, rubbish, and bad drivers just fine.

Fantastic Bike

I love this bike! I received it for Christmas (I extensively researched it, looked at it, and gave my wife a link to the bike with my size and which store had it in stock) and have logged ~130 miles in 5 rides in my first 2 weeks with it. I am coming from an aluminum Specialized Secteur with a 9-speed Shimano Sora drivetrain. My bikes previous to the Secteur were chromoly: in 1978, while living in England, I bought a Holdsworth (British company) 531 Special (Reynolds 531 double-butted tubing) frameset and built it with Shimano 600 gear, then updated it to Campagnolo Record as I could afford components. In 1983, while working at a high-end bike shop in San Antonio, TX, I bought a John Howard (made by Dave Moulton) frameset (Columbus SL tubing) and fitted it with a Campy Super Record group. I had sew-ups on both bikes. I drifted out of cycling for the most part in the mid-90s and didn't start up again until I bought my Secteur in 2013. So, I cannot really compare my Roubaix Comp to other modern, carbon, road bikes, but it is a joy to ride. The 11-speed Ultegra group on the Roubaix Comp is quite a step up from my Secteur, with very smooth shifting and very sure braking. The frame geometry is stable but responsive and the bike is comfortable. My longest ride to date has been 31 miles. The roads I ride are in pretty bad shape but the Future Shock up front, combined with the flex built into the seat post, seat tube, and seat stays in the back, soak up a lot of the imperfections in the road, much more-so than the Zerts inserts in the fork blades and seat stays of my Secteur. Prior to the Roubaix, my weather minimums for riding were 65 degrees F and less than 15 mph wind. In my desire to put miles on my Roubaix, I bought cold-weather riding gear and now will ride in temps down to 50 (the wind still has to be less than 15 mph though!) and will work my way further down as I gain experience with winter layering and acquire more winter riding clothes.

A pleasure

I bought this bike for the smooth ride, but fell in love with how it tracks.... it's truly a pleasure to ride. Fear rough roads/bumps no more!

Addendum to previous review

My previous review neglected to add that my impressions were formed over the first 6 weeks/1000 miles of riding.
