Men's Stumpjumper ST 27.5

2019 Men's Stumpjumper ST 27.5

The new Stumpjumper ST uses new tube shapes and an asymmetrical design to ensure that you get awesome ride characteristics. So get ready, because the Stumpjumper ST Alloy 27.5 is sure to exceed your expectations of how a trail bike should ride.

Our design goal for the new Stumpjumper was simple—build the ultimate trail bike, one that feels telepathic. And it turns out that this feeling all comes down to stiffness. Think of it this way: when the frame's telling your hands one thing and your feet another, your brain gets confused with the imbalance and the bike feels unstable. In order to fix this, we had to get to work on dialing-in the materials and shapes.

We continued down the suspension path with a custom Rx Trail Tune on both the fork and rear shock. Suspension performance is highly dependent on frame, wheel, and rider size, so we use our Rx Tune to get each bike to land in the middle of the adjustment spectrum, and this gives you the biggest possible range to fine-tune your ride. Another focal point of the tune was matching the suspension characteristics between wheel sizes—we developed a specific Rx Tune for each platform. So, no matter what wheel size you prefer, you'll get perfectly linear suspension.

Steps were also taken to make this bike easy to live with. Threaded bottom brackets make a triumphant return, and we made room for up to a 2.8" tire. You're also free to run whatever aftermarket rear shock you want, since we're using standard metric shocks. And customization is furthered with a Flip Chip that lets you to dial-in your Stumpy to your riding style. Switch it from High to Low and it drops your bottom bracket 6mm and slackens the head tube by half-a-degree. Little details also jump out to surprise you, like a newly designed ribbed chainstay protector that makes chain slap a thing of the past and nearly silences the drivetrain.

The build here is no-nonsense with a focus on dependable, high-performing parts, like Shimano SLX front and rear derailleurs, Tektro Gemini disc brakes, a RockShox Recon RL fork with 130mm of travel, a custom X-Fusion 02 Pro RL rear shock with 130mm of travel, and wide alloy wheels.

Yes Please

This bike is great!!! Had it for a couple of months now and really starting to rip into the sport. I would recommend this. A dropper in future would be a nice upgrade, but all-round, at least a 9.9/10

take a second look on it

one if your are getting into the sport it is a great bike for that but if you a kid and you grow like a weed and it does not even have a dropper and when you do get a dropper you can only put a 75mm and maybe 100mm dropper but no logger and so every time if you about to hit some thing fun like how mountain bikes are suppose to be and you don't want to have fun get this bike but if you do want to have fun save your moneys and securely look into a better bike. specialized really come on please do better.

Solid bike at a solid price.

I recently upgraded to this Stumpjumper from my Pitch Sport hardtail. Let me tell you, it is a world of difference. I've been riding bikes for 24 years, but this is by far the smoothest and most flowy one yet. This bike gives you confidence in all the tight and fast downhills and the help you need to get up those steep climbs. I love the bike for the price. Next steps are upgrading suspension and buying a dropper seat post!

Way above it's value 10/10

I've been an avid mountain biker since around ,10 now I'm 18 and I've ridden everything from full out downhill bikes to XC race bikes and I gotta say this is by far the best bike I've ridden I'm 6'3 but I opted for a large instead of an XL and I still fit pretty good I've had it since early August and have put a couple hundred miles on it already and I've kept up with riders on bikes much more expensive and even managed to ride it at a downhill park with no issue. I 100 percent recommend this bike to anyone who wants a trail bike and am likely to write another review as I'm taking it out west this summer.

So happy with this bike.

I finally decided to upgrade from my 15 year old Giant NXT full sespension. What a difference! I had no idea how nice a bike could ride. It felt like a lot of money, but now that I've ridden it so many times and every experience is wonderful, I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The geometry of bikes has changed so much in the last decade.

Fun fun bike

After riding several full suspension bikes I finally decided to buy one for myself. The base Stumpy model had everything I needed, a great deal for the money. I've wanted a Stumpjumper since the mid 90's and here was my chance. And it has filled every expectation. The bike goes where you want it to go, climbs like a champ even when the suspension isn't locked out, and balances like a dream. I've never felt so comfortable on a bike.
