Don't use this light in rain.

Went out for a rain in overcast conditions, the kind of conditions where you want a light for safety. Some light rain fell on it, got moisture inside and now no longer holds a charge. Very disappointed. Not worth the price.

Overall .... nah 👎

The light is very well made, a quality product worth its high price however the mount not so. The spread and penetration of the beam would stun a roo at 100m which gives you great confidence when riding in the dark. The things I don't like are it's weight and the mount design. Big light with high power and battery life means heavy gear. The light is connected to the mount via an axle which lets it rotate until a spring loaded ball bearing in the shaft locks into a hole in the mount. There are only 2 holes resulting in only 2 positions you can lock it into. This arrangement is not tight and over time the hole wears or the ball bearing spring weakens allowing the connection to rattle, especially when riding over rough ground. Another issue with the mount is that you can't micro adjust the light tilt on the fly to allow for day/night or onroad/offroad conditions. The ball bearing locks the light on the axle and the only way to tilt is to loosen the 2 hex screws to allow the clamp to rotate on the handlebars.

Great Headlight - flash those high beams!

So Far so good; does what it's designed to do and better than my Cateye 1800! Nice broad beam too.

Supper nice light, but will not fit 35MM bars

This light works great and the quality is surprisingly good. It was so nice I recommended it to my biking friends. However, the bracket that comes with it will not fit the new 35mm bars. I called and they confirmed no bracket is available. I did an internet search and again no brackets available. I had to build a custom bracket on my 3D printer to get it to work. I'm not sure why Specialized doesn't make a 35mm bracket since this is now fairly popular.

Very bright light.

When I purchased this light, my friend also purchased the Elite model. On our next night ride, we compared both lights along with a NiteRider Lumina 750 I borrowed from my brother. Hands down, both Specialized Flux lights were far brighter than the NiteRider. The NiteRider beam was very focused, but the Flux beams were wider and projected farther. Comparing between the Expert and Elite models, the Elite had a wider beam, but the Expert projected farther. I prefer the wider beam of the Elite, but decided to stay with the Expert mainly for the longer battery life. In fact, after our side-by-side comparison, my friend exchanged his Elite in for the Expert. The extra $100 for the Expert is not that bad when you consider it includes the $40 remote. The run times listed for the battery are fairly accurate. My only problem i had with the light is that it will not charge with the small block chargers that come with iPhones. After I figured that out, I switched to higher output chargers and have not had a problem.

A light that tries to be what a bike light should be

I bought this light at first release because it appeared to tick a lot of boxes for what a bike light should be: genuine high/low beam (not just a range of intensities); a remote switch for easy changes while riding; a sensible set of options with sophisticated controls instead of the usual how many modes can we squeeze into one button approach. Unfortunately it's not all perfect. The initial release only came in poo brown. I'm glad to see they've fixed that but unfortunately the tail light I bought to match, which was also originally the same colour is now black having been replaced under warranty. That was the second issue: both lights were affected by firmware problem that caused them to discharge prematurely. This has been rectified and my lights replaced, but it was annoying that the tail light bought months after the front light had been replaced, was sold with the same problem. Probably the retailers fault. Anyway they did both eventually get replaced though it took months in the case of the tail light. Both work fine now with no discharge problems. The other thing I would improve would be to make the high/low distribution of LEDs 2:1 instead of 1:2. Having proper high/low switching is great but with only one LED angled high it doesn't really add much to the long-range view. Maybe it's more effective in full darkness but on a moderately lit bike path it seems more cute and ""almost"" than ""yeah!"". Overall though I really appreciate the thought given to how a light should actually be used. The remote takes a little getting used to but once you have adapted it's easy to switch to whichever of the settings might suit the moment. The ""light horn"" to alert people to your presence is a nice feature. As noted by other reviewers though it does seem to have been designed to fit MTB bars, which is odd as the light is specifically touted as a road light. The hard square design is also particularly ugly, regardless of the colour. No problem mounting it though.

Brilliant light in an almost perfect package

First off, a few caveats: 1) this review is more akin to a ""first impression"", since I haven't put a full season of winter riding down. 2) I haven't personally compared this light to other high-end bike lights, so I can't comment on how it compares to other high-end lights. What I can say is that the Flux Expert headlight is a gorgeous piece of kit, and provides a real, automotive level of illumination when riding in the dark. Its the kind of gear that makes you want to ride in the dark, just to take full advantage of its capabilities. The light is very well made, straightforward to install, and looks impressively large on the front of your bars (whether it is TOO large is a matter of personal preference). Cycling through all of the settings with the included remote can take a bit of getting used to, but it's easy enough to get going without too much fuss. I don't consider the premium pricing to be a problem, since you generally get what you pay for, but I do have two gripes with this light. First, there is a little bit of play between the light and the mounting bracket (at least on my unit). It's not much, but is enough to make the light rattle a bit when riding over bumpy terrain. Not a deal breaker, but not ideal either. Second, the mounting apparatus for the fancy illuminated remote seems to be intended only for narrower MTB bars, and not the 31.8mm bars common on road bikes. Perhaps I'm missing something here, but it feels like an oversight in an otherwise thoughtful and well executed product.
