    Purist WaterGate 26oz

    Delivery Icon

We deliver! Just say when and how.

The Purist WaterGate Bottle features an amorphous silicon dioxide coating that's infused into the inner-wall of the bottle. Essentially, this forms a glass-like finish that provides a totally natural, and completely inert, solution to the problem of your drinks staining the bottle or leaving behind any residual aftertaste. This infusion also shields your fresh water from tasting like plastic on very hot days, making it akin to drinking straight from a sparkling clean glass.

Fantastic Bottle - Not Sure about bottle cap

The Purist water bottle is fantastic and lives up to all its claimed features. I do think I prefer the MoFlo cap vs Watergate. The Watergate has a tendency to stick and not be easy to open - especially mid-ride!

    Hard to drink from

It looks like Purist have changed the design of the lids for this bottle. It is so hard to get water from it compared to the other purist bottles I have. Not suitable for purpose.

    Heart Valves Too Stiff

The Purist bottles with the "heart valve" cap used to be my favorite bottles as I didn't have to keep opening and closing the top to prevent splashing water out of the bottle. However, Specialized changed the design of the "heart valve" with the latest Watergate cap and not for the better. When you squeeze water out of the bottle, the "heart valve" is too rigid and the bottle isn't able to "inhale" and go back to its original shape in a timely manner. The bottle will eventually go back to its original shape, but you'll likely have to wait and/or squeeze the bottle some more... Not the thing you want to do when riding.

Not fit for purpose - nozzle no good

Not sure if I got a defective one, but after drinking from the nozzle the bottle does not "inhale" well and ends up compressed for longer than it should. When using on a bike with a sideloading bottle cage, the bottle fell out more than once due to it being compressed. Also, squeezing it takes a bit more effort than other bottles before the liquid will pop out. I have other Purist bottles from specialized, but none with this spout and the others are excellent. I'm returning this one.

    Plastic Taste

I had high hopes for these Purist WaterGate bottles. I purchased two of these bottles because the description reads "This infusion also shields your fresh water from tasting like plastic on very hot days, making it akin to drinking straight from a sparkling clean glass." It doesn't have to be a hot day to taste like plastic.
