2018 Airnet

In the helmet world, there's an unwritten rule that many designs seem to follow: aerodynamics, weight, aesthetics, and ventilation—pick two, there's your helmet. In our typical fashion, however, we don’t follow these norms—we innovate. And it’s precisely this mentality that led us to the Airnet. Loosely based upon the leather “hairnets” that cyclists used to wear before protection was a priority, we took their ventilation and classic style and incorporated them into a modern helmet design that combines all of the above features.

Although we had the hairnet shape in mind during the design phase, we started by looking at the category leader in aerodynamic road helmets, our S-Works Evade, to see if we could make a classic style that wasn't only aesthetically pleasing, but also helped in the aero department. What we came up with is our third fastest helmet, behind the TT and Evade, that's lightweight, well ventilated, and looking good no matter your riding style.

The Airnet also features our ultra-light Mindset HairPort micro-dial fit system, making the perfect fit easily achievable, while our drirelease® Merino wool pads provide you with increased comfort, odor control, and sweat management. Clean and simple, the Airnet helmet is the ideal blend of functionality and performance for riders seeking both adventure and style.

Great fitting helmet

I ordered this helmet to replace a small size Echelon helmet that I left on a train and never found. I really missed that helmet. This helmet has been a great replacement. Fits snugly and securely. Looks good. Easy to adjust. Highly recommend!

Airnet beats Propero 3, Stratus and Syntax for my big head!

After I rejected the Bell Stratus MIPS size Large (because the straps were too short and didn't fit around my head) and after I rejected the Giro Syntax MIPS size XL (because it was way too big), I decided to try two Specialized helmets, the Propero 3 and the Airnet, both with MIPS and both size Large. From what I can see, neither the Propero 3 nor the Airnet is as adjustable as the Bell and Giro models. On the Specialized models, the shape and size of the triangle formed by the straps around the ears seems to be held constant regardless of how much you change the strap length. Putting that limitation aside, both the Propero 3 and the Airnet were good for oval shaped heads like mine. The Airnet was slightly more roomy on the inside. Also, while I couldn't get the straps on the Propero 3 to sit quite right around my ears, the straps on the Airnet sit fairly flat against my skull and avoid contact with my ears. The Airnet is the only one of those 4 helmets that I have actually worn during a ride. It feels hotter than my old Bell Gage helmet but it's still comfortable. I think the extra heat is due mostly to the MIPS technology, which supposedly makes the helmet 15% more effective if I crash and hit my head. Not everyone will agree with this review. I have a very large head. Most caps and helmets don't fit me. While my head is very large front to back, it's not especially large side to side. You could say the crown of my head is more oval shaped and less round. I usually wear size 7 3/4 or 7 7/8 hats. As I recall, I measured my head circumference and came up with 61 cm. I also have a fairly large face, especially top to bottom. For me, the Airnet was definitely the best of the 4 options I considered.

Love this helmet

I knew it was time to replace my old helmet. 5+ years old, dented from light fall, and uncomfortable. However, I didn't realize how uncomfortable my old helmet was until I tried on this one. Oh, my comfortable, wonderful fit, very visible color. Will recommend to friends. It also comes with a little ""bill"" to provide shade. Unfortunately, I haven't yet figured out how to install that.

Excellent sturdy helmet

Coming from a Prevail II, the fit is better. A Prevail Small is too tight on me, and the Medium needs to be ratcheted a lot to make snug, but the Airnet Medium fit well, with still enough room for a headcover. Doesn't flow as much air as the Prevail -- I wouldn't want to do a long climb in the Airnet on a hot day if I could help it -- but the weight difference is negligible. The sunglasses grips are a nice touch.

Solid, comfortable helmet

The helmet lining will leave something to be desired, however, can easily be switched when worn out. Trustworthy sunglasses holders. Easily adjusted fit.

Quality helmet.

Looks great. Very comfortable to wear. Lightweight. Straps and adjusting dial are well made, and retain the adjustment during long rides. I would buy again.

Bright, Light, and Fits just right!

I have been wearing bicycle helmets for 20 years and never have I experienced the comfort that this product delivered. The first time I put the helmet on I knew I hit a gold mine! So light weight. I bought the neon yellow model; the visibility it provided me on the road gives me a feeling of confidence and safety. Highly recommend this product.
