    2018 Roubaix Sport

Hitting a sweet spot between performance and value, the Roubaix Sport was designed to thrive on long rides through rough country.

The light weight frame has been constructed from our FACT 9r carbon fiber. Its stiffness levels are also off the charts, and compared to the SL4 iteration of yesteryear, you'll experience a whole new, faster, and more efficient geometry. Through some engineering sorcery, however, we've managed to keep the same fit, feel, and position that we've all come to love from the SL4, and kept it consistent throughout the size-range due to our Rider-First Engineered™ construction.

Of course, you're probably thinking, "get on to the suspension thing up front." We call it Future Shock, and essentially, it's a piston in the head tube with 20mm of travel. We developed this technology in partnership with McLaren Applied Technologies, and the result of this are a host of drastic performance improvements, namely in the vertical compliance department. Without giving a physics lecture, we found that focusing on vertical compliance, instead of fork splay, meant that we could improve smoothness, speed, and comfort in one fell swoop. And of all the bikes that we've tested with our Rolling Efficiency Model, the new Roubaix outperforms anything on the market.

Lastly, we spec'd the Roubaix Sport with Shimano 105 11-speed mechanical shifting, hassle-free Tektro Spyre mechanical disc brakes, and Axis Sport wheels that have been cased in our Turbo Pro 28mm tires.

Great ""do it all"" bike for me.

Let me start out by saying, this is my first real road bike. I rode mountain when younger and spent the last 18 years riding on & off-road motorbikes. I really wanted a bike I could ride to work, and put in some miles for exercise weekly. I was hesitant going to a road-bike for excersize, cause of the general pressures it puts on my back and body over distances (several motorcycle injuries, ""life behind bars"" haha). I rode approximately 5-6 bikes trying to figure out what I wanted to be spending my time on 3-5 times a week. I tried several Trek bikes, a Carbondale and one, or two others in my search. I thought i was going to up with a gravel bike but when I hopped on the Roubaix, I knew almost immediately, ""I was going to buy this bike"". Honestly, the ride was just far superior in the comfort from the future-shock, and general body position/geometry while riding the bike. I would tell anyone to hop on a bike before buying, but I don't think anyone could be disappointed with it. I really do love the stupid thing haha!

    Perfect first bike

This was my first road bike and i absolutely love it. Extremely reliable and will take you to amazing places. Highly recommend this bike if you're just starting out or even upgrading from a more base-line model!

Needs a zero-offset version of the seatpost.

I like this bike except for the offset on the seatpost. Even with the seat all the way forward I cannot get into proper riding position. (Apparently I have relatively short femurs?) On all my other bikes I require a zero offset seatpost, but unfortunately the Roubaix only has the option of the offset post. I could switch to a standard post, but then I loose the shock absorbency of the Roubaix post. I wish specialized would come out with a zero offset version.

    Awesome Bike.

Found many cheaper bikes with Shimano 105 but knew about the comfort of the Roubaix. Just wish I could have bought sooner for local Fondo. Very satisfied with ride and performance.

Yes! It is so gooood! Thanks Specialized!

I spent a few months looking for the ideal bike for me... a bike I could ride most days of the week, year round, that would be great for NYC street riding (which can be bumpier and harsher than some trails), longer rides on smoother roads, and possibly do some ""gravel"" road riding. I narrowed my search down to a Specialized Roubaix or Diverge with the Future Shock, or possibly the Trek Domane with the ISO Speed. After test riding them all, the Roubaix and the Diverge just felt so much more comfortable than the Domane. Yeah, the idea and tech of the Future Shocked seemed simple, a spring right under the handle bars to absorb all of the pounding of potholes, cobbles, and consistent repetitive vibrating of poorly paved streets. But, was it just hype? How did it compare to Trek's ISO Speed decoupler? Well, I am here to tell you that the Future Shock is ALL that it is hyped up to be and the ISO Speed is really not. I chose the Roubaix over the Diverge daily because I got a better deal and it felt as comfy but a lot faster and more agile. I guess if I was mainly riding dirt roads I would get the Diverge, but I am mostly riding bumpy city streets. This bike has been nothing but joy to ride. I am so impressed with the Future Shock and it has really helped my elbows!! From being a rock climber for over 25 years, my elbows always bothered me after long rides on my previous bike and almost always on my mountain bike. But with the Roubaix, I have not had a single complaint! Thanks Specialized! Also, thanks to the customer service crew who answered the phones and took so much time helping me with all my questions during my research. You guys rock!
