Great first MTB

I joined a bunch of friends to learn single track so bought this bike to upgrade my $50 garage sale bike that I was destroying and I'm so happy with my Comp29. The rest of my gang rides soft tails and I have no trouble keeping up with them and don't see needing an upgrade anytime soon. My only complaint is the dropper post isn't the best and seizes up in cold weather and is probably the only thing I'd change out.

This bike is the most fun of any bike I have ever owned- and that is saying a lot! It has been rock solid since day one- I have had it two years, so long term review here—

Amazing Quality

I love this bike and I cherish it, it's screams high quality, I've even been upgrading parts and I think it has turned into one of the best hardtails I've seen,I've had this for nearly 8 months now and it's still works like a charm. I would highly recommend

Amazing

I had a fully upgraded trek marlin that needed a new tube. I went to my local bike shop to get one and saw this specialized fuse. The sale price was unbelievable and after a test ride I just had to have it. Absolutely perfect for me personally. Obviously much better than any marlin, even upgraded. Would highly recommend to get a fuse when it’s on sale.

Bad spec for the price

Looking to replace my wife's 2006 Stumpjumper, I bought a Comp Fuse last year from Erick's Bike Shop in a size small for $2299. The specs still look the same as this year, but the price is $3k. Pro's: - Decent frame, seem's relatively light and has some compliance - sticker says made in Taiwan. - The dropper functions like a dropper. - The Recon functions like a bottom shelf fork without being terrible. - Stock wheels seem ok. Con's: - The Recon is heavy - it weighs more than a Fox 36. I recently replaced with a Fox 34 and it was a significant upgrade and savings in weight. And the Recon steerer tube is cut too short by 3/4 to 1 inch. - The dropper is way short at 100mm. - NX instead of GX Cassette - easy way to save weight. - It would've been great to have brake levers with more adjustable like the G2. I've spent $1600 in upgrades to make the bike lighter and more comfortable to ride. Should've probably looked elsewhere, but my wife really like the olive green...

Bad brake cable routing

A rock kicked up and broke the housing on the rear brake. This is a serious design flaw that could have turned out much worse.

Capable All-rounder, especially after some modifications.

Excellent overall trail bike for 90% of trail networks out there. Completely fine on green through dark blue trails, and fine on selective black trails depending on how steep it gets. I've ridden mine in multiple locations across the country so far, and I'm also ways surprised at how well it handles new challenges. I've basically changed out all of the stock components, and changed the geo around a lot to suit my needs, but it's a great bike to start out with and that's worth upgrading along the way as you see fit.

Amazing all round mtb!

My dad got me this bike, and as soon as I saw it, I knew that this was perfect! This bike has perfect geometry for every kind of trail riding! I have beat this bike to the ground with jumps and some of the biggest drops, and this bike has had no problems. I just finished a race with it and it performed perfectly! The derliar is perfect shifting and the brakes really are powerful. The fork is perfect, and this frame really feels like it is carbon fiber! Overall, amazing bike, wound reccomend for experts for beginners!
