THE TRAILS

PUERTA INCA TRAIL

Sandy and fast, dusty and loose, lush and flowy—the Puerto Inca trail outside Lima, Peru has a bit of everything along its path to the Pacific. To think of it solely as a mountain bike trail, however, would be a glaring mistake. This trail is steeped in history, dating back millennia to the era of the Incas, where it was used as their connection from the mountains to the sea. Today, riders can expect to ride through ancient ruins, many of which are still intact, and share the trail with local ranchers, tourists, and all-around thrill seekers.
