2019 Men's Stumpjumper ST 29

The new Stumpjumper ST uses new tube shapes and an asymmetrical design to ensure that you get awesome ride characteristics. So get ready, because the Stumpjumper ST Alloy 29 is sure to exceed your expectations of how a trail bike should ride.

Our design goal for the new Stumpjumper was simple—build the ultimate trail bike, one that feels telepathic. And it turns out that this feeling all comes down to stiffness. Think of it this way: when the frame's telling your hands one thing and your feet another, your brain gets confused with the imbalance and the bike feels unstable. In order to fix this, we had to get to work on dialing-in the materials and shapes.

We continued down the suspension path with a custom Rx Trail Tune on both the fork and rear shock. Suspension performance is highly dependent on frame, wheel, and rider size, so we use our Rx Tune to get each bike to land in the middle of the adjustment spectrum, and this gives you the biggest possible range to fine-tune your ride. Another focal point of the tune was matching the suspension characteristics between wheel sizes—we developed a specific Rx Tune for each platform. So, no matter what wheel size you prefer, you'll get perfectly linear suspension.

Steps were also taken to make this bike easy to live with. Threaded bottom brackets make a triumphant return, and we made room for up to a 2.6" tire. You're also free to run whatever aftermarket rear shock you want, since we're using standard metric shocks. And customization is furthered with a Flip Chip that lets you to dial-in your Stumpy to your riding style. Switch it from High to Low and it drops your bottom bracket 6mm and slackens the head tube by half-a-degree. Little details also jump out to surprise you, like a newly designed ribbed chainstay protector that makes chain slap a thing of the past and nearly silences the drivetrain.

The build here is no-nonsense with a focus on dependable, high-performing parts, like Shimano SLX front and rear derailleurs, Tektro Gemini disc brakes, a RockShox Recon RL fork with 130mm of travel, a custom X-Fusion 02 Pro RL rear shock with 120mm of travel, and wide alloy wheels.

Great bike BUT

I've had this bike since March and put on it about +/- 200 Miles. I love the geometry of the frame and the way it feels while riding. However, the drive train is almost impossible to adjust. Permanent noises when shifting, inconsistency and unreliability is the common denominator of the drive train combination it comes with. I've taken to the dealer and the best I can get is: Yes, that's the issue with these bikes. No Happy... my friends have other brands and my bike is always matter of laugh when we ride together.

Had it for 4 days

I immediately took it down to alafia and up ocala to ride on those trails. This bike handled every challenge I threw at it. My choice was between the giant anthem and the stumpjumper St. Very happy with my decision. Very responsive, great on the trails, and a great comfortable ride. Highly recommend.

Awesome Bike

it's much lighter than my previous bike, it's nibble, and easily attacks the terrain. And the ride....is as smooth as a Cadillac. The bike is responsive and doesn't beat you up on the trail, it absorbs the bumps and keeps on going.

Absolutely love it!

This bike has been amazing for me! I have had the bike for around 5 months now and have pretty much rode it through all different types of riding. (Enduro, XC, downhill, trail, super Gnar and much more!) The bike has done extremely well with everything! The only issues I have had with the bike was with the rear shock developing some wheezing. However, I contacted the manufacture and they are working on getting if fixed under warranty! So, other than that I have absolutely no complaints at all! The bike is at a wonderful price point and for what you get it's amazing! I would say that anybody who rides this bike will absolutely love it. Specialized knows how to make some great bikes!

Excellent Bike!

I waited a long time to buy this bike as it was a major upgrade from the hardrock I had. It was a lot of money for me, but it took about 30 seconds to determine that it was worth every penny! I thought it was great at first, then I learned about air settings and suspension setup from the bike shop and really dialed it in. It just gets better and better! I adjusted the brake levers for a firmer feel, and added an x-fusion dropper post. It was a little strage to adjust to shorter cranks, but I quickly got used to it. The bike is smooth, quiet, and shifts excellent. If your on the fence, or looking to upgrade to your first full suspension like me, This bike s crazy good!

I freaking love my Stumpy!

I borrowed a friend's 2019 stumpy for a day and the next day I had to order mine. I can honestly say I am truly happy and satisfied.

LOVE my Stumpjumper!!!

This is the fifth and hopefully last Specialized bike I'll buy. Rides like a dream. Upgrades include Shimano 2-pistons brakes and rotors and a 34-tooth front sprocket for more top-end. Once you ride a dual suspension bike you'll never wanna sit on anything else.
