2019 Men's Tarmac Disc Comp

Ripping corners, sticking it to friends on the road, cruising down the highway—no matter how you ride, the Tarmac Disc Comp delivers in spades. It houses many of the features found in its S-Works siblings, so you'll have the ride of your life.

In order cut some grams from the Tarmac, but to also ensure that it's stiff and compliant in exactly the right places, we took major steps to improving our Rider-First Engineered™ technology. From different layup schedules and materials, to visibly different forks, we scrutinized every single aspect of the Tarmac to ensure you're getting the perfect ride. With this revamp, we also updated the geometry, basing it on countless Retül data points and professional rider input. This enabled us to develop a Performance Road Geometry that perfects the combination of a responsive front-end and short wheelbase, which delivers instantaneous response and optimal power transfer.

And while stiffness aids in the aforementioned, compliance must also be utilized for an optimal ride quality. That's why we dropped the seatstays, and altered the seat tube shape. We also added tire clearance up to 30mm. This allows lower pressures for decreased rolling resistance, increased traction, and more comfort. Altogether, these additions still have the Tarmac riding like a true race-machine, but it also takes a bit of the sting out of road imperfections. You'll thank us on your next long ride.

But why disc brakes? The real question is "why not?" They offer superior braking power and modulation, work exceptionally well in wet weather, and offer a very, very minor weight addition. All this means that you have more control and can go faster with more confidence.

We also know, however, that aerodynamic improvements are the most important thing we can do to make you faster. Our Bora-Hansgrohe and Quick-Step Floors Pro Tour riders, after all, are demanding aero improvements on every bike. With this, the aero goal was to discover where we could essentially "add aero for free," by not taking anything away from the hallmarks of the Tarmac design. During the six-month iterative process, three areas were discovered where we could do this—a new fork shape and dropped seatstays with aero tubes.

This Tarmac comes with a no-fuss spec that includes Shimano Ultegra mechanical shifting, quick-stopping hydraulic disc brakes, durable DT R470 Disc wheels.

I'm in love

I bought a new '19 Tarmac Comp Disc from my LBS and have owned it for 2 months. I'm 6' tall, 177lb and a 58 fits well. I've only put a little over 500 miles on it but my first impressions are very positive. I just ride for fun and try and beat PR's. Usually 25-80 mile rides, a couple times a week at around 200W/kg average. (FTP is 277 and sprints around 800.) This bike is fast, light, comfortable and reliable. It really flies up hills and the power transfer feels immediate. Out of the saddle is explosive with speed and confidence-boosting handling. Getting the bike up to speed is effortless. Keeping it up to speed requires a little more work, but I believe that is my personal problem. The DT Swiss 470 wheels are bombproof with quality hubs and have handled potholes and small amounts of gravel or grass well. I exclusively ride road and paved trails with this bike, but in the Midwest anything can be thrown in front of you. The wheels just power through and no punctures yet. I don't think I will go tubeless, but the option is there if I ever do desire. Full Ultegra is awesome. This is my first disc brake bike; I got caught in a downpour, and the disc brakes were a noticable improvement. Everything on this bike is reliable. I have had no issues at all and if I do, I trust Specialized and my LBS to take care of me.

She's fast

This is my third Specialized rode bike, and it continues to amaze me. It's both quick and comfortable and it's very fast and stable on the downhills. It shifts fast, handles the hill pulls well, and runs the straight-a-ways like a thoroughbred -- no kidding, this is a great bike. I would recommend it to a friend – and those hydraulic disc brakes are to die for!

Love my new Tarmac Disc Comp

I've had a few road bikes and this is my first specialized. Love this bike. Ultegra Disc brakes are way better than other disc brakes I've had. A little more clearance, so no brakes rubbing ... the last thing I need on a climb! The bottom bracket on the frame is really solid. The mint is a beauty that needs to be seen in sunlight. The lettering runs from black to dark purple to dark green. Really beautiful bike paint. I also really enjoy the grip tape and saddle. All around great road bike. I get a lot of compliments!

Glad I Made the Jump

So first off, this bike is just flat out fun to ride. If you are thinking about taking the plunge into a new road bike I cannot recommend this bike enough. Ride is super smooth, shifting is very crisp, and stops on a dime. All around great bang for your buck, has all the basics and set up for future upgrades.
