Major Andy finishes Ironman New Zealand

Major Andy Crosses the finish line in New Zealand.
Our special friend and Specialized fan--Major Andy Christian completed Ironman New Zealand recording the 2nd fastest amateur time/16th overall bike time on the Specialized Transition! Andy posted a personal best, official finish time was 10:10:46, and he qualified for a KONA slot before he reports back to duty in Afghanistan.

Congratulations to Andy for racing and raising over $21k for this race and over $93,000 the US Marine Corps Semper Fi Fund for his fallen comrades.

"I mounted my bike in 337th place coming out of the water. I knew I was having a great bike leg when I caught up and passed several professional triathletes. The new Specialized Transition bicycle was like a carbon fiber rocket ship, cutting through the twenty to thirty mile per hour winds with ease. By the time I had reached the 112 mile mark, I had moved from 337th place to 52nd place overall. My bike split would be the highlight of my day, posting the 2nd fastest of all amateurs and 16th fastest overall bike time, finishing in 4:58. In closing, I would like to express my gratitude for supporting our injured and wounded Marines suffering from catastrophic injuries."

Semper Fidelis, Andy Christian
