It’s a simple concept and one we’ve been pushing for a long time—the smoother the ride, the more control you have, the less fatigue you experience over time, and the faster you go. “Smoother is faster” originated with our FSR
suspension, but we quickly applied the same logic to the road through bikes like the Roubaix, Ruby, and Secteur—as well as an ever-expanding range of equipment. With four victories at Paris-Roubaix on the Specialized Roubaix, our pros and enthusiasts alike continue to validate the performance benefits of a smoother ride
Zertz viscoelastic dampers in the fork, seatstays, and seatpost filter vibrations from the road, so your body doesn’t have to.
The seatstays on our road bikes are engineered for vertical compliance.
THIN TO WIN
Smaller diameter posts on our road bikes increase vertical compliance and stability.
The Tarmac SL4’s and Roubaix’s uniquely shaped headtube/steerer assemblies taper from 1-1/8” at the top to 1-3/8” at the bottom (instead of the industry standard 1-1/2”). This improves vertical compliance for a smoother ride, but through unique shaping we’ve managed to increase torsional stiffness, providing more precise steering.
We’ve engineered our Turbo tires to have a wider 24mm profile and have extended the tread to further down the shoulder for enhanced performance and a more comfortable ride.
